To simply call this paint metallic burgundy is like calling the Rolling Stones just a rock band. During this coupe's full frame-off restoration it was also treated to an $8,000 professional paint job that added so much clearcoat that people will swear this Chevelle is candy-coated. We'd usually tell you all about the SS stripes and cowl induction hood, but that's not what's catching your eye. This custom paint package includes amazing flames on the hood with ghost shading, and this theme is continued on the trunk. If you're wondering why the stripe package is not on the roof, that's because this one even comes with the top-quality muscle car hallmark vinyl roof that subtly matches the burgundy paint. If the super-straight body was not shiny enough, there's plenty of brightwork on the bumpers, fender guards, and the Torq Thrust wheels.

High back buckets, center console, and iconic horseshoe shifter are the factory-correct highlights of this interior. But just like the exterior, the inside has been given plenty of upgrades during the restoration. The driver gets a later model grippy steering wheel to command the power steering, and beyond that is the correct deeply recessed gauge SS package. To supplement the speedometer and the tachometer is a full set of auxiliary readouts. While this is a driver's car, there's plenty of room to take the whole family, and so there are features that everyone will enjoy such as the AM/FM/CD stereo and air conditioning running modern R-134a for easy servicing.

But the reason we all love Chevelles is because their engine bays are large enough to handle the biggest of big blocks. In this car's case, it's a brutal 454 cubic inch V8 that's been rebuilt less than 800 miles ago with some serious extra power and reliability in mind. First, the block was re-decked and bored .030 over by WSI in Tampa, Florida. It was fitted with a 3" lift cam, new rings, pistons, crank, bearings, and lifters. The monster motor exhales deeply through Hooker headers and a 3" stainless dual exhaust with performance H-pipe construction and Flowmaster mufflers. The full package is reported to produce over 400 horsepower, and you'll believe it the moment you turn the key and the exhaust begins to bark. To get this power to the ground it goes through GM's trusty TH400 three-speed automatic transmission on its way to the stout 12-bolt Positraction rear end running a versatile 3.31 ratio. Because we all know power is nothing without control, this Chevelle has been upgraded to four-wheel disc brakes and modern Federal tires with an aggressive directional tread.
