Survivor car fans and Mustang enthusiasts need to pay attention. This 1968 Ford Mustang convertible goes way beyond a numbers-matching V8 to prove its lived a cherished life with so many well-maintained factory components. Amazingly, the seller of this car believes the 29,981 on this car are original (but cannot be documented).
It all starts with the Meadowlark Yellow paint with plenty of luster left to dazzle in the sunlight. This not only means it was well-maintained, but also highlights the exceptional condition of the body. This is the perfect color for the contrasting black C-style stripe package and black vinyl roof. Mustangs are meant to be shown off, and so we do know there have been a few improved pieces, such as the chrome bumpers. The overall impression is very factory-correct with plenty of sporty style. That's why the Magnum 500 wheels look so good on this one.
Just like the power folding roof, the black interior has the perfect contrasting shade for the exterior color. It's a cherished survivor in here, too, where the vinyl looks amazing for its age. The wear on the seats, carpets, and door panels is so minimal and even that we suspect the 29,981 miles to be ... Please ask for the full description.

The wear on the seats, carpets, and door panels is so minimal and even that we suspect the 29,981 miles to be accurate and original. In fact this one has been maintained so well even the optional AM/FM radio is still working. The driver gets the great round gage package that came on later versions of the first-gen Mustangs, and ahead of that we are delighted to see no one has traded the original premium steering wheel for an aftermarket unit. In fact, the only major component that did not come from the factory is the center console. It blends in nicely and is easily removable, but more importantly, it provides an always-welcomed addition of cup holders.
See how original that 289 cubic-inch V8 looks under the hood? That's because it's the same C-code powerplant this convertible has had since the day it left Ford's New Jersey factory. Numbers-matching is important in any car community, but it's especially nice to see in the often swapped Mustangs. But just because the big blue block is a survivor does not mean there was a lack of service and maintenance. For example, this motor exhales with authority out of a newer stainless steel exhaust system. Other features that make this a great driver include the power steering, three-speed automatic transmission, and front disc brakes. Capping off this cruising package is the modern grip of Cooper Cobra tires at all four corners.
This '68 Mustang offers carefree top-down fun, but when it's time to get serious, this one also delivers with a cut-above pedigree that even comes with the original owner's manual. You may never again find such a desirable survivor for this kind of affordability. Call today!!!
