ZZ454 CRATE MOTOR W/ 700R4 TRANS, BOTH BRAND NEW, NEW BUILD, CLEAN RESTO MOD

As you can tell from the photos, this isn't your average 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle. Looking like a star player in the next "Mad Max" movie, this evil-looking big block Chevelle is a fresh professional build that takes a new look at an old favorite.

This is the A-body stripped down to its barest essence, a car single-mindedly dedicated to going fast and it leaves off most of the stuff that doesn't further that goal. Part of going fast is staying out of sight, so instead of bright Cranberry Red with white stripes, this one was stripped to bare metal, the emblems and badges were shaved, and then everything was painted Anthracite Gray. Now just because it doesn't assault your eyeballs with color, don't make the mistake of assuming that this car doesn't get noticed, because it cruises through traffic like an apex predator and you'll be shocked by how lesser machines scurry to get out of its way. Part of that comes from the blacked-out grille and trick crystal-clear headlights, but the rest is just charisma. The finish is impossibly shiny, the sheetmetal is straight, and even the smallest pieces were treated to a body-colored paint job, including the hood pins, door handles, and the bumpers. There ...

There are only six shiny things on the whole exterior: two tailpipes and four spinners on the wheels. Otherwise, you get beautiful and imposing charcoal gray in high-gloss definition.

More major upgrades inside, starting with a set of deeply sculpted Procar Scat leather bucket seats. The vertical pleats are pretty close to the originals on the back seat, and the door panels have been tweaked to match. New black carpets tie it together (can you see a theme here?), but they're hardly the end of the upgrades. The instrument panel is a carbon-fiber-look piece full of modern Auto Meter gauges, there's a fat Grant steering wheel, and a custom center console is fitted with a trick B&M shifter for the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission, as well as a pair of cup holders. Entertainment comes via an AM/FM/CD stereo system with speakers stashed throughout the interior and this is a factory air-conditioned car, which now uses modern components to make the chill. Again, most of the hardware has been blacked out, including the window cranks, adding to the menacing look. The trunk is completely carpeted and nicely finished, indicative of a complete build by guys who really knew their stuff.

We don't know what engine was originally in this Chevelle and we don't care, because it now sports a ZZ454 crate motor that has just test and tune miles on it. Nestled into the satin black engine bay, it looks purposeful with the twin snorkel air cleaner up top and the finned valve covers. The monochromatic look works rather well on the heavy-duty V8, and even things like the MSD ignition box are black to stick with the blackout theme. There's a stage II 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission and a custom-built 9-inch Ford rear end to plant the power, and the front suspension is upgraded with tubular A-arms. There's a disc brake at all four corners that really pop with the bright red calipers on slotted rotors and nothing sounds better than a big block exhaling through long-tube headers and a throaty exhaust system. Satin black American Racing wheels complete the look and carry staggered 245/45/17 front and 285/45/18 Nitto performance radials.

This is a seriously nice car and as a fresh build with only a handful of miles, it's poised to storm the shows next summer and start collecting trophies. Call today!
