ONLY 28K ORIGINAL MILES, ORIGINAL 304CI V8, SUPER CLEAN ALL AROUND GOLDEN EAGLE

There's no denying the fun and versatility that a Jeep offers. This low-mileage 1979 Jeep CJ5 Golden Eagle represents the best of the classic “old school” CJs, and combines the rugged good looks of the traditional off-roader with lots of bonuses that includes V8 power, a California history, and low original mileage.

You recognize them from a quarter-mile away with their cheerful round headlights and 7-slot grille, a look so iconic the latest Wranglers still wears a version of it. Jeepers wave to each other the way motorcyclists do, and as any of them will tell you, owning a CJ like this is a lifestyle, not mere transportation. Fortunately, this Golden Eagle is a limited edition that stands out with its unusual color scheme and graphics. It's also a southern car, so rust is obviously a non-issue, particularly in the critical areas above the rear wheel wells. The paint is in excellent condition with a shine that's just right, which is the result of a single 2009 repaint in its original Olympic White. The Golden Eagle graphics were surely inspired by the other highly decorated machines of the period but tie into the Jeep's distinctly American heritage; honestly, is there any vehicle more ... Description

ONLY 28K ORIGINAL MILES, ORIGINAL 304CI V8, SUPER CLEAN ALL AROUND GOLDEN EAGLE

There's no denying the fun and versatility that a Jeep offers. This low-mileage 1979 Jeep CJ5 Golden Eagle represents the best of the classic "old school" CJs, and combines the rugged good looks of the traditional off-roader with lots of bonuses that includes V8 power, a California history, and low original mileage.

The Golden Eagle graphics were surely inspired by the other highly decorated machines of the period but tie into the Jeep's distinctly American heritage; honestly, is there any vehicle more patriotic than this? And if you do take it out in the brush, you'll appreciate the burly front bumper with grille guard and winch, custom steps, and the oversized spare tire mount with tubular rear bumper.

Inside, the Jeep is basic, but that also means that it's virtually indestructible. Have some fun with the top and doors off, then hose it out, that's the name of the game. The seat covers are recent, so they fit well and are quite comfortable for a day of play, and the floor has been covered in tan carpets, befitting the Golden Eagle's upscale mission. The controls will look as familiar to your grandfather who fought in the Korean War as they do to you, with a big steering wheel, long-throw shifter for the 3-speed manual transmission, and gauges clustered in the center of the dash. There is also an AM/FM/cassette stereo system, which has probably been there since it was new, and a new clock has been fitted, making this one of the first Jeeps we've featured with a working timepiece. Weather protection comes from a bikini top, which is really all you need in California, which is this Jeep's home state.

Power comes from AMC's rugged and reliable 304 cubic inch V8, and you'd better believe that it transforms the Jeep's performance. With just 28,535 original miles, it has never been opened or rebuilt, and given its easy life, it shouldn't be necessary for decades to come. Looking around, you'll find the same trail-rated machinery that has been doing the job for decades, all very neatly maintained with documentation to prove it. The suspension is fortified with new body bushings and fresh shocks all around, and a correct single exhaust system gives it just the right grumble on the road. And while you're looking around, just note how truly clean this Jeep is underneath, with new seals in all the working parts that means it's ready to hit the trails. That off-road-ready stance comes from a set of brand new Mickey Thompson aluminum wheels and 31x10.5-15 Goodyear Wrangler radials that have less than 100 miles on them.

Tradition is alive and well for Jeep fans, and this low-mileage, 3-owner, California-bred Golden Eagle is one that any serious Jeep fan should find easy to love. Call today!
