This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible might be the most universal collector car in the world. Everybody loves an early Mustang ragtop, and when you take this bright red one out, you'll find that everyone is your friend and that you're the center of attention everywhere you go.
When the time came for paint during the restoration, this one was sprayed with vivid Candyapple Red to really make it pop. After all, who hasn't wished for a bright red Mustang convertible in their driveway? The bodywork is quite straight, including the quarters that have had a ton of time invested in block sanding so the reflections are clear and crisp. An equally big chunk of time went into aligning everything, since early Mustangs emphasize good gaps and alignment with their C-scoop design running the length of the body. The paint is well done, not quite a show car but perfect for those warm summer evenings that are ideal for cruising with the top down, and any show you attend will be happy to have this car on the field. All the chrome and trim is in good shape, too, with bright bumpers, shiny rocker panel trim, and excellent taillight bezels out back.

Description
Early Mustang interiors are some of the best places to spend a weekend, and the black buckets in this car wear fresh seat covers that replicate the standard interior quite nicely. That's a correct under-dash A/C unit, which is a rather rare feature on a 6-cylinder convertible. All the bezels and knobs on the dash are new, and there's a new headlight switch to replace the old ones that are notoriously unreliable. An AM/FM/cassette stereo has been installed in the center of the dash, and it's a custom unit just for early Mustangs, so there was no cutting or hacking to get it in there. The top is brand new and folds easily, and even though it's manual, effort is light and anyone can do it, which I like because it's one less thing to break. Finally, the trunk is fitted with a new mat, spare tire with cover, and even a scissor-style jack, just in case.
Now before you turn away from this pony because of the six-cylinder engine (the larger 200 cubic inch T-code version, by the way), you really should drive it. It's smooth, torquey, and pulls down decent fuel economy, which means that you can enjoy your Mustang convertible without guilt! It looks great in Ford Blue with all the original equipment intact, from the air cleaner to the stock exhaust manifold feeding a single exhaust system underneath. The engine bay is dominated by the A/C compressor, but everything is in excellent order and the engine runs superbly thanks to a recent tune-up. The 3-speed manual transmission and 3.20 gears out back mean that performance is lively, and there are new shocks all around. There's also a new gas tank out back, and you'll note that the chassis is original but quite solid. Recent 195/75/14 Michelin whitewall radials have been fitted and it wears correct hubcaps.
Mustang convertibles are always in demand, and once you discover the joy of ownership, you'll cherish this beautiful red pony. Call today!
