AMC 360 CI, 3-SPEED, BLACK ON BLACK, SOFTTOP, SIDEPIPES, HITCH, NICE RESTO!

Stripped down to the essentials and stuffed full of 360 cubic inches of V8 thunder, this 1976 Jeep CJ5 is a lean, mean, off-roading machine that delivers on Jeep's promise of go-anywhere fun. The only thing that'll keep you off the trails in this one is the fact that it's just too nice to take it out among the rocks.

Lots of time went into this ultra-clean Jeep and you can see it everywhere you look. You know about black vehicles and how much attention they need before the paint goes on, and this one received it. It's one of the straightest, cleanest CJ5's we've ever featured. Not perfect, mind you, but nicer than these off-roaders usually are and clearly someone did it for love, not money. The usual Jeep trouble spots above the rear wheel arches and by the tailgate are quite good and the two-stage urethane paint looks like it should be on a much more expensive vehicle. Rubber fender extensions offer protection from the oversized tires and a “Renegade” decal package adds contrast to the otherwise all-black Jeep. Other new gear includes chrome bumpers, typical asymmetric side mirrors, and bright rocker panels that protect the bodywork from the side-exit exhaust pipes underneath. There's ... Description

Rubber fender extensions offer protection from the oversized tires and a "Renegade" decal package adds contrast to the otherwise all-black Jeep. Other new gear includes chrome bumpers, typical asymmetric side mirrors, and bright rocker panels that protect the bodywork from the side-exit exhaust pipes underneath. There's also a trailer hitch for utility and that big whip antenna out back.

Bare-bones is the word inside, where fresh seat covers have been wrapped around the factory front buckets and rear bench. The low-back seats look sporty, especially with the roll bar hovering above them, and they're comfortable enough for a long day of fun. The floors are protected by spray-in bedliner material, so you don't have to worry about getting it dirty – just hose it out when you get home. The fat steering wheel is easy to grab and keep pointed in the right direction, and the newer replacement gauges are all big and easy to read in the rough. A 3-speed manual transmission makes it easy to find the right gear for slogging through the rough stuff, and the 2-speed transfer case gives you enough torque to power through just about an obstacle. For entertainment, there's also an AM/FM/cassette stereo system and a heater below to keep you warm. And don't worry about the weather, because this Jeep also includes a removable soft top and doors, just in case.

The 360 cubic inch AMC V8 is a neat fit in the CJ's engine bay, almost as if the same guys designed them both. It's clear that the goal was an OEM look, and the heavy-duty air cleaner this Jeep wears is probably a good idea for playing in the dirt, rather than the usual open-element piece. The engine looks quite stock and wears a nice paint job that stands out in the black engine bay. Thanks to an awesome power-to-weight ratio, performance is very impressive and the soundtrack provided by the long-tube headers and side pipes is amazing. You'll note that the hardware underneath is in excellent condition with no major modifications, and all the skid plates are intact, so go have some fun. Shiny chrome wheels look great, especially wrapped in fat 31x10.5-15 off-road radials.

So don't sweat it, this CJ5 has you covered. Lots of power, awesome good looks, functional interior – real Jeepers don't need more than that. Call today!
