Perhaps you noticed that massive Chevy pickup we sold a few weeks ago and decided that since your blood runs Ford Blue, you'd hold out for the Ford equivalent. Well, this 1973 F250 4x4 certainly qualifies as big, bad, and blue. Very nicely finished, this is the brute force way to experience the great outdoors.
It really is almost too pretty to risk beating up in the dirt, but that's what this F250 lives to do. The paint is fairly recent, but was done the way the factory would have, using a two-tone blue and white combination that looks great. That's A LOT of sheetmetal to straighten and smooth, so it probably took a small army of guys to get it looking this good and about ten gallons of paint. None of that matters to you, of course, because what you're buying is merely a super nice truck that's turn-key and ready to enjoy without any additional fussing. The doors fit well, the chrome and trim was all reinstalled after the paint was dry, and a spray-in bedliner means that filling it with lumber for your next big project won't hurt it a bit. Accessories include the visor, a heavy-duty rear bumper, a brush guard, and those side mirrors that offer a comprehensive view behind if you're towing a trailer (which is ostensibly what this Camper Special was designed to do).
Trucks have come a long way since the 1970s, but there's a certain appeal to the no-nonsense interior of this F250. The bench seat is wrapped in tough vinyl that's seemingly impervious to dirt and with a rubber mat on the floor, you really don't have to worry about making a mess, because it's all so easy to clean. Some fake burled walnut trim warms up the interior and with the wood on the dash and the big, square instruments, you'd almost think that the guys over at Mercury were in charge of the F250's interior design. A set of auxiliary gauges was installed under the dash along with a column-mounted tach, which is what you'd expect in a truck built for high performance fun, although the original dials are in good shape, too. That long shift lever controls a 4-speed manual transmission (with ultra-low first gear that's really only for moving very heavy loads) and the shorter lever is for the 2-speed transfer case behind it. Vintage Air A/C and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD head unit make this a truck you can drive every day.
The 390 cubic inch V8 is recently rebuilt and offers a few smart tweaks for extra power, including an Edelbrock intake and a Holley carb. The block and heads are bathed in Ford Blue and there's plenty of chrome to make it a pleasure to park this truck and open the hood. Power steering and brakes are really the only way a truck like this is even possible, and underneath the hardware is all heavy-duty for no worries in the rough stuff. Long-tube headers and a Flowmaster dual exhaust system sound awesome and while the chassis isn't spotless, it's pretty darned solid. The suspension is lifted enough to make off-roading easy and offers plenty of clearance for those giant 36x12.5-15 Super Swamper tires on shiny aluminum wheels.
Ford fans from the '70s will remember that the legendary Bigfoot started out like this, and there aren't many bigger ways to get attention on four wheels. Call today!
