The wonderful thing about the old car hobby is that there's something for everyone at every budget. You don't have to drive some frumpy old 4-door to get an affordable hobby car; instead you can own this nicely done 1976 Camaro with timeless good looks and a smooth small block V8
The two-tone paint scheme is quite period correct and is a lot less dated than a lot of the other cars built during this time period. It was repainted about six years ago, but those must have been an easy six years because it still looks awesome. The high-gloss paint certainly helps, and it sure doesn't look like it was a budget job, because the gaps are good and the finish sparkles from every angle. Correct decals were used to separate the black and blue areas of the car and they're still firmly attached to the bodywork so no issues with peeling. Looking at the quality of the work and then at the price tag, we have to believe this car was a true labor of love, because even the little details like the taillights and the stainless trim seem to have been expertly buffed and polished before being reinstalled. It's worth noting that the glass is all original, again pointing to this car's excellent state of preservation, and the chrome bumpers look quite fresh despite being near 40 years old. You just don't see many $20,000 cars that look this good.
Even more surprising is the all-original interior which is amazingly well-preserved. White seat covers with blue carpets and dash are a unique combination that actually works rather well in this two-tone Camaro. Aside from the door sill plates, the interior I completely as it was in 1976, including the excellent dash pad, which often gets cooked by the sun until it cracks. The driver's seat might show a few minor signs of use, but the rest is quite fresh and really very impressive. Options include factory A/C and a tilt column, and with features like the center console and wrap-around dashboard, it looks sporting without being bare-bones. The factory gauges are still brightly marked and have clear lenses, and the 29,635 miles showing on the clock are authentic, which certainly explains why it looks so awesome inside. The trunk mat is a little ragged, but judging from the bias-ply spare tire that still has a label on its tread, it's probably original and has never been used.
The 305 cubic inch V8 was an understandable response to the fuel crisis a few years earlier, but that doesn't meant it doesn't move with V8 authority. The engine was recently pulled and treated to new gaskets, but given the low mileage, there was simply no need for a full rebuild. It was painted and the engine bay was detailed before it was reassembled, and it now offers a great combination of originality and spotless detailing. Even the cloth air snorkel is still in place and the A/C system uses R12 refrigerant so it works like new. A TH350 3-speed automatic powers a 10-bolt rear with very highway-friendly 2.73 gears inside, and with an all-new $5000 suspension upgrade, this Camaro moves like it's decades newer. The original exhaust system still uses its factory catalytic converter and while those wheels look like factory SS pieces, they're actually modern 17-inch replicas from Year One. Staggered 245/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear Kumho radials were fitted to take advantage of the new suspension.
