CORVETTE YELLOW ELKY SS, 454 CI V8, MUNCIE 4-SPEED, LOTS OF HP, LOTS OF STYLE!!

The great thing about the El Camino is that just about anything that fits a Chevelle also bolts on here. This 1969 El Camino SS isn't just a pretty yellow pickup, but it also packs 454 cubic inches of street authority and a high-quality build that borrows the best features from its passenger car sibling.

Subtlety was not the purpose of this build, obviously, but that also means that they had to get the little stuff right. High visibility Corvette Yellow paint means a lot of eyes are going to be sweeping over this truck/car's sheetmetal, so the work was executed to a very high level. The bodywork is super straight and looks rather fresh, so it's ready to hit the cruise nights where it's sure to be a hit. It's badged as an SS396, which is the only flavor you could get in 1969, but there's more to the story than that (we'll get to it, don't worry). Fit and finish are exemplary, with excellent door gaps and a bed that doesn't look like it's been abused and beat up over the years. Of course, it's now protected by a spray-in bedliner that has a very tidy, clean look, and you'll note that the bed itself is fitted with snaps to handle a tonneau cover, making it practical as well as stylish. Nice ... Please ask for the full description.

Description

Nice chrome and stainless trim was either restored or replaced when the Elky went back together, and the overall look is a car that someone invested a lot of time and money into making it right.

Bucket seats and a console are rather rare in an El Camino, but dipping into the Chevelle parts bin is easy. Recent reproduction seat covers on the low-back buckets look great and the matching door panels have correct SS emblems and bright stainless trim. A full SS instrument panel with round instruments and an in-dash tach make it easy to forget the bed out back when you're driving, and there are auxiliary gauges under the dash. The center console houses a big Hurst shifter with cue ball know and it's linked to a Muncie M22 "rock crusher" 4-speed manual gearbox, the ultimate in shift-it-yourself durability. An AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit slits neatly into the dash and blends right in, powering a set of speakers built into the custom bulkhead behind the seats.

So about those badges. They say 396 but the truth is, it's a 454 cubic inch V8 rated at 502 horsepower, and to get that big figure it requires a thumping cam, a big Holley 4-barrel carb, an Edelbrock intake, and a set of gorgeous Hooker long-tube headers feeding a custom Flowmaster exhaust system. It's dressed to look fairly factory, with an open-element air cleaner and reproduction decals up top and chrome big block valve covers to match. A big aluminum radiator keeps it cool without making you nervous, and the MSD ignition system reliably lights the fires. Power steering and power front disc brakes are welcome upgrades and there are traction bars fitted out back, along with Edelbrock IAS shocks, so this pickup hooks up a lot better than you'd expect. 3.08 gears in the 12-bolt rear are great for cruising and the big block doesn't need a lot of gear to deliver neck-snapping acceleration. Original-style Rally wheels look right and wear recent white-letter radials.

Finished three years ago, this slick El Camino offers power, style, and practicality that no other car has ever been able to match. Call today!
