In the realm of heavy-hitters, big block Chevelles stand tall. Add a top that goes down, a fantastic black and color scheme, and a highly detailed restoration and you get a spectacular summer cruiser that can still hand out a beating on the street.
I don't have to go into details about how great the A-body cars are to drive and look at, but in black this Chevelle definitely has presence. From the forward-canted front fenders to the simple taillights, Chevy designers nailed the mid-sized convertible shape, and the restorers who put this one back together took their time to get it right. Note the gaps are tight and even, and despite being restored nearly 20 years ago, careful maintenance has insured that the black paint retains a brilliant shine. A white SS stripe that follows the curve of the fenders is the lone accent, so this SS tends to keep quiet about its performance potential, but experts will spot the SS badges on the grille and tail panel. Bright chrome stands out against the black paint, particularly the bumpers, which are in excellent condition.

White seats against black carpets are a classic look, and if you're out cruising in the sun with the top down, you'll appreciate the light color. Reproduction seat covers and door panels were used when the car was restored and it shows only minor signs of use today. Black carpets are still dark and rich, so obviously this car hasn't been sitting outside in the sun, and the dash pad is almost like new. Grab the 3-spoke steering wheel and you'll have an excellent view of the gauges, which cover only the basics, but there's an optional clock in there, which is not seen very often. An AM/FM/cassette stereo appears to be the lone deviation from a purely stock interior, but it's a welcome upgrade in a car that's going to do a lot of cruising. A power convertible top with matching white boot and a new pump provides better-than-average weather protection, but given its condition, it has rarely been called into action. There's also a nicely detailed trunk that includes a full-sized spare living under its own tailored cover.
The SS396 was Chevy's heavy hitter, with this one rebuilt to stock specifications. Docile around town, it's still a formidable performer out on the open road, and with the Muncie 4-speed behind it, there are few purer muscle car experiences than running this one through the gears. It also shows quite well, with Chevy Orange paint on the block, correct chrome valve covers and air cleaner, and signs of exceptional care since the restoration was completed. Again, it sticks to the factory recipe, including cast iron exhaust manifolds feeding a mellow dual exhaust system, and you'll be pleased to note that the floors are original and in outstanding condition. 15-inch Rallys give it a performance look and wear reasonably-sized 205/75/15 Uniroyal radials.
An excellent car that has obviously been cherished by its owner of nearly 20 years, this is your opportunity to take home a big block Chevelle ragtop that's ready to rock. Call today!
