350 CID V8, 3-SPEED AUTOMATIC, HIGH-RISE INTAKE,  DUAL 4-BARREL CARBS, A/C!

This 1955 Chevrolet 3100 pickup is a show-ready hauler that has been nicely restored and upgraded with things like a small block wearing dual quads, fabulous paint, and a fantastic custom interior. If you're looking for a cruise night special that can do it all, this fast, fun, practical pickup might just fit the bill.

All-new in 1955, the Chevy 3100 pickups were among the first to tap into a market that wanted style along with practicality. Inspired by passenger-car design, it had a wraparound windshield and eggcrate grille, just like the passenger cars. This truck has been only lightly modified, instead preferring to let the classic sheetmetal speak for itself. Subtle modifications include shaved trim, a louvered hood and tailgate, custom rear roll pan, and teardrop taillights, but otherwise, the Chevy designers nailed it right out of the box. The paint is brilliant bright red with ghost flames that practically define the term, all applied over well-prepped steel that shows off the truck's sophisticated curves. The bed features light oak planks and a custom stainless bulkhead, while the remaining trim has been either polished or plated to show standards.

Description

The completely custom interior offers inviting bucket seats skinned in tan leather with ostrich skin inserts, along with custom door panels finished in the same materials. The original gauges are gone, but the cool hood in front of the driver has been modified and now holds Dakota Digital instruments with bright red LEDs to match the bodywork. A neat analog clock has been mounted just to the left of the instrument cluster, and is easily viewed through the spokes of the cool wood-rimmed Impala steering wheel. The center stack area that used to hold a massive AM radio has been updated with a newer AM/FM/cassette stereo plus the vents for the HVAC system. A custom center armrest, again covered in ostrich skin, separates the buckets and leaves some room for the floor-mounted shifter.

Tilt that outrageous custom hood forward and you'll find a 350 cubic inch V8 topped by Weiand high-rise intake and dual 4-barrel carburetors, which definitely makes a dramatic, high-performance statement. And with a dramatic hood, it's a good thing that almost everything underneath is either polished or chrome plated, including the valve covers, radiator shroud, and snorkel for the air cleaners. Shorty headers dump into a dual exhaust system featuring Flowmaster mufflers and twin polished tips under the rear roll pan. A TH350 3-speed automatic feeds a 10-bolt rear, which, while not exotic, is a bulletproof drivetrain that will never cause you headaches. The chassis is clean and solid, again built for the road, and includes thoughtful upgrades like a front A-arm suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering, and power disc brakes. Wheels are 18-inch American Racing Torque Thrusts wearing 255/45/18 front and 295/45/18 rear Nittos.

Someone has invested a considerable amount of time and effort this truck, and the mechanicals are solid and reliable, making it the ideal cruiser to take to shows this summer. With a few custom touches, a great-sounding 350, and that gorgeous wooden bed, it attracts admiring glances even motoring down the highway at 70 MPH. This truck couldn't be duplicated for the asking price, so call today!
