A-CODE 289/4-BARREL, C4 3-SPEED AUTO, POWER STEERING, FRESH IGNITION COMPONENTS,

There are still lots of great early Mustangs out there for not a lot of cash, just like this 1967 Mustang coupe. It's a real A-code V8 car, it's bright red, and it's available for about the price of a garden-variety daily driver. Wouldn't you rather have the Mustang?

Go to a show today and you might be convinced that the roads were teeming with Shelbys and Mach 1s, but the truth is, this coupe represents what most folks were buying in 1967. The bright red paint is certainly eye-catching, and there aren't many folks alive today who don't crack a smile when they see an early Mustang like this. Built in Sacramento and obviously kept in a warm, dry climate, this super-straight old pony wears that fresh red paint like a supermodel wearing a bikini and boy does it attract attention! Good panel alignment certainly helps and 1967's quarter panel inserts are far more interesting than the early cars'. A new black vinyl roof dresses it up, too, and thanks to correct materials and careful installation, it looks fantastic. Great chrome, bright stainless, and authentic badging all help make this Mustang a winner in the looks department.

A-CODE 289/4-BARREL, C4 3-SPEED AUTO, POWER STEERING, FRESH IGNITION COMPONENTS,

Mustangs were always equipped with wonderful, stylish, highly functional interiors, and this coupe is no exception. Bucket seats were standard (yes, you could get a bench in a Mustang, but why?) and with a center console between them it looks like a great place to spend some free time. Round gauges covering the basics fill the dash and are probably original, which again suggests that this car has been exceptionally well cared-for throughout its life. The center console houses the shifter for the automatic transmission as well as the cool "garage" storage compartment with sliding door. It still offers the original AM radio in the dash, but otherwise it's light on options; perhaps the original owner saved his pennies to put them where it mattered and got the A-code 289 under the hood. The door panels, carpets, and headliner are all in great shape, and the trunk is neatly finished with a newer reproduction mat and a full-sized spare that looks pretty vintage itself.

Yes, this is a real A-code 289/4-barrel car (that's 4V in Ford speak) and it's what you'll find under the hood today. Aside from a set of chrome valve covers, it's pretty much the way Ford built it 45 years ago. The Ford Blue paint isn't original but definitely has some patina to it, and while the engine bay is clean, it isn't really detailed for show. Power steering and fresh ignition components are always good signs of a car that has been properly enjoyed, and with a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, it's a joy on the open road. The older exhaust system is a two-into-one setup that gives it a classic V8 grumble without sounding like the starting grid at Lemans, and the solid chassis definitely offers impressive originality and a lack of rust. Original steel wheels with wire wheel covers now carry 205/75/14 radials that handle great and look right.

A fun old Mustang for not a lot of coin, with a V8 engine thrown in just for fun. You don't need to spend a fortune on a high-profile pony to have fun, and this car is proof. Call today!
