In case you haven't noticed, vintage trucks are red-hot right now, and those with something extra to offer, trucks like this awesome 1966 Chevy C10 for instance, are at the very top of the charts. With a Corvette powertrain, gorgeous '60s styling, and traditional colors, it's a workhorse that has learned to dance.
The color-matched wheels and the stance give it away, of course, but the two-tone color scheme is definitely period correct. It has been applied over some very nicely done bodywork that's laser-straight and retains all the dramatic creases and details that make these trucks so iconic. From the wrap-around hood treatment to the simple squared-off tailgate, this is one of the first trucks to make style a priority. Of course, custom details are what set this particular truck apart, including the custom tailgate with a hidden latch mechanism that has been smoothed into the bodywork, the beautifully rendered chrome bumper up front, and the white inserts along the side. All the original trim remains and has been expertly restored to better-than-new condition, and the bed is a work of art.
Even the glass is new, along with all the weather-stripping, suggesting that someone invested big to get this truck looking like this. Blue-dot taillights finish the period-perfect look that's custom without being radical.
As beautiful as the bodywork is, the interior is every bit as gorgeous. The original bench is finished in two-tone blue upholstery, with matching carpets and inserts on the door panels. The original instrument panel still has that cool flat pane of glass with all the needles stashed behind it, a custom look that was delivered by the factory. The steering wheel is colored to match the bodywork and this truck was one of the last vehicles to use a traditional horn ring. You'll note that the shift quadrant now shows D-3-2-1, which comes complements of the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission now living underneath. Under-dash A/C was added with discreet vents that are effective without looking out of place and a Kenwood AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo has been fitted in the original radio's location. New window felts reduce squeaks and rattles and with 3-point seatbelts added, it's a lot safer to cruise in this old pickup.
Power comes from a 350 cubic inch L98 borrowed from a 1987 Corvette, and it fits like it was born under this truck's hood. That cool Oldsmobile 442 air cleaner with dual snorkels feeds an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor sitting on top of a matching intake manifold. Aluminum heads shave weight and add horsepower and a big aluminum radiator laughs at heat waves and traffic. There's a ton of polished aluminum and chrome, and the underside of the hood has been fitted with polished stainless inserts to really make a statement. Underneath, it sports dropped spindles and lowering springs up front and lowering blocks out back, which helps give it that aggressive stance, and throaty stainless mufflers give it just the right sound. Up front there are power disc brakes and power steering and a 12-bolt rear end holds up the bed. The look is completed by a set of color-matched Rally wheels wearing 255/70/15 performance radials.
You absolutely could not duplicate this truck for the asking price, and you won't find a cooler hauler for less cash anywhere. The just don't get much nicer. Call today!
