This remarkable little 1952 Chevy 3100 pickup has much more than meets the eye, including a custom-made bed, desirable 5-window cab, and a fresh crate motor. We sell a lot of these here at Streetside Classics, but there haven't been many that have impressed us as much as this one does.
At first glance, it may look like a stock 3100, but the remarkable thing is that the frame has been shortened six inches, and it's shorter by ten inches overall. The result is a very factory-looking truck with nimble handling and that gorgeous hand-crafted bed full of African mahogany. Fresh Honduras Maroon paint went on after all the bodywork was straightened and smoothed, and all the usual issues with these trucks have been fully addressed by experienced pros, so nothing will come back to haunt you later. A few of the truck's more notable custom details include the refinished running boards that match the bodywork, the aforementioned custom bed with smooth tailgate and custom roll pan, plus those little bullet taillights underneath.
The front bumper was painted to match the body, but the remainder of the chrome and stainless trim was either expertly restored or replaced with brand new gear. This truck is every bit as clean as it looks.
The interior is a wonderful mix of traditional styles and pieces from a variety of OEM sources, all of which work extremely well in this pickup. The two-tone upholstery matches the bodywork with Honduras Maroon and Wimbledon White seat covers and door panels. A custom tilt steering column wears an early Corvette 3-spoke steering wheel, and the center stack was painted to match the Wimbledon White trim. The factory instrument panel was restored and painted to match the body, then stuffed with very cool gauges that are both retro and modern at the same time. An under-dash HVAC unit is a discreet addition that doesn't involve hacking up the original dashboard, and there's plenty of room up top for the stereo system of your choice. The entire cabin was lined with Dynamat to keep it cool and quiet and all the glass, weatherstripping, and window fuzzies are new.
A fresh 350 cubic inch Chevy crate motor nestles between the fenders and runs like any great small block should. With a 600 CFM Edelbrock carb and aluminum intake, Sanderson cast iron exhaust manifolds, and an HEI ignition system, it's reliable as a hammer, since the combination was sorted out years ago. The air cleaner is a '50s Cadillac piece painted to complement the body. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end from a '70s Camaro ensure reliability down the line. Every component on the chassis has been restored, from the stock suspension with modified leaf springs to the power front disc brakes, and it's all framed by a satin black underbody. Dual exhaust with mild-sounding mufflers make this a truck you can drive all day without complaints, and service access is quite good, something that can't be said of many hot rod builds. Cragar aluminum wheels give it a distinctive look and are shod with 225/70/15 blackwall radials, just so nobody forgets it's a truck.
If you're looking for one of the nicest Advance Design Chevy pickups around, this one certainly qualifies. Fresh and ready to run, it's time to get off the sidelines and into the game. Call today!
