Corvettes have always represented fast fun, but few deliver the thrills-per-dollar that this brilliant white 1976 'Vette can. An awesome color combination works with a warmed-over small block to deliver plenty of performance to back up the Corvette's sports car image, all for the price of a used Honda. How can you lose?
Classic White was a popular color in 1976, and it's a great choice on the C3 shape, playing up the dramatic curves while not burying the car in 1970s drabness. With a red interior, it'll always look crisp and sharp, and thanks to a high-quality paint job a few years ago, it looks great. In fact, you'll take a look at the paint and then the price and wonder, "Where's the catch?" Well, there isn't one, this is just a car that was loved and cherished and got the attention it needed throughout its life. Panel fit is pretty good overall, particularly for 1976, and the shine will be easy to maintain thanks to modern paint used in the refinish. And unlike factory paint, it all matches. Chrome was pretty much gone by '76, although this car carries a handy trunk rack on the rear deck, and as you can see, it's very useful for those days when you want the open-air experience but don't ... Chrome was pretty much gone by '76, although this car carries a handy trunk rack on the rear deck, and as you can see, it's very useful for those days when you want the open-air experience but don't want to take the chance of leaving the T-tops at home. We can't exactly call a Corvette practical, but this one is ready to drive anywhere, which makes it a lot more usable.
The bright red leather interior offers fresh seat covers that mimic the originals, plus new foam underneath to make them comfortable. In fact, the entire interior was removed for paint, and while it was apart, it was lined in sound-deadening materials to keep it nice and quiet inside, and it definitely pays off. The carpets are in excellent condition and the door panels are pretty fresh-looking, too. The factory gauges are joined by a column-mounted tachometer that ups the sport factor of this 'Vette to the proper level, but that doesn't mean it doesn't coddle you a little bit, too. For example, the steering wheel has been custom-wrapped in black leather and it offers features like power windows, a tilt steering column, and a recent AM/FM/iPod stereo that sounds fantastic thanks to a pair of speakers stashed in the rear cargo area.
A 350 cubic inch V8 makes this Corvette a lot more entertaining on the road than its factory-correct siblings. Thanks to a Summit aluminum intake manifold, Holley carburetor, HEI ignition system, and a set of aluminum cylinder heads, it's noticeably more energetic than even the optional L82. Aluminum heads shave weight, too, so handling is crisp and agile and cooling efficiency is improved, especially with an electric fan up front. A few chrome dress-up pieces make the engine bay look great and a new 2.5-inch dual exhaust system gives this Corvette an appropriate soundtrack that never gets tiring. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission shifts right when you need it to and drives a set of highway-friendly gears, so this car is a great travelling partner. The underside is surprisingly clean for a car in this price range, with lots of new components to make it feel younger than it is. Factory Rally wheels are wrapped in simple blackwall radials that give it a purposeful look without being distracting.
Documented with ownership paperwork and maintenance receipts, this is an affordable way to get some fantastic plastic on a budget. Admit it, wouldn't you rather have a Corvette? Call today!
