Just about any 1963 Chevy Impala you run across is a collector's piece, but the one to own is a legitimate V8 hardtop like this lovely Ermine White coupe with a great-running 283 under the hood and a brilliant red interior. While fashion comes and goes, the timeless Impala will always be cool.
As you know, we sell a lot of these cars, but there haven't been many as clean and straight as this one. It's an older restoration that was done right, and while we may take it for granted, cars like this just don't come along all that often. The paint has a few years on it but still looks great, and sheetmetal is in good order save for some minor blemishes that come from being driven and enjoyed, giving this Imp a classic, distinguished look. Just look at the long strip of trim running from behind the front fender opening, which streaks along the bodywork uninterrupted with no signs of misalignment or even notable body gaps. Now THAT's craftsmanship. Get close up and you won't be disappointed, because the chrome is a combination of restored and excellent original equipment and all the stock emblems are in place; no fake SS badges need apply.
The grille is in great shape up front and out back, of course, there are six taillights just like all the Impalas before it.
The interior is extremely well-restored and with the Ermine White, nothing works better than red. Using correct materials and patterns, it's spectacular and goes to prove that this car is one of the sharpest '63s we've seen. The wide front seat is supportive and comfortable, showing minimal wear and no damage, while things like the carpets, headliner, and the door panels are brand new. The markings on the gauges are crisp and clean, showing GM's penchant for three-dimensional designs where the needles hid behind the markings on a clear plastic face for a very cool effect. You can look pretty hard for flaws inside and maybe the light dusting of pitting on the steering wheel could be a demerit, but only because everything else is so nice. One glance in the door jambs will prove how thorough the restoration work was, and extra details like the AM/FM radio and beautifully detailed trunk suggest that these guys went the extra mile here.
The engine is a smooth, torquey 283 cubic inch V8, fully rebuilt 1000 miles ago and ready to rock. The engine bay is nicely finished with a lot of correct details, including proper paint on the block, plain steel valve covers, and the big black air cleaner up top. Simplicity guarantees reliability, and the orderly engine bay suggests that this car is ready to drive without worries, and a few smart upgrades include a dual –reservoir master cylinder for the front disc brakes, power rack-and-pinion steering, and an alternator. Underneath, there's a rugged PowerGlide 2-speed automatic supported by a fresh exhaust and the original rear end, which hangs on new springs and shocks. Four period-perfect Torque Thrust wheels give it the perfect street look and carry 215/70/15 front and 225/70/15 rear Uniroyal radials.
Restoring any car is a big investment, so take advantage of this opportunity to get a great running and driving Impala with everything already done. Call today!
