BEAUTIFUL PAINT, 304 V8, FACTORY TACH, GOLDEN EAGLE GRAPHICS, AWESOME RESTO!

It's only recently that Chrysler got the memo that Jeeps are SUPPOSED to look like this 1979 Jeep CJ5. Big tires, burly suspension, minimal frills. It's been the formula from the beginning, and thanks to a major investment, this V8-powered CJ is ready to play in the dirt or even pick up some trophies at the next local show.

Big and black, this CJ5 looks like it could knock down a building then triumphantly climb over the rubble without even getting dirty. Fortunately, it's just too pretty for such tasks, wearing impressive black paint dressed up with period correct Golden Eagle graphics that are as right as the chicken on a Trans AM. The shape is the same one they've been using since World War II, with oversized rubber fender flares for the equally oversized tires, massive stainless steel tubular bumpers on both ends, and a step plate to make it a little easier to climb in. It's in really impressive condition, with no evidence that it was abused or neglected, and given the popularity of these vehicles over the years, it's still rather rare to find one this nice. A stainless mesh grille insert protects the radiator from debris on the trail, there are a pair of big auxiliary lights mounted ... Please ask for the full description.

A stainless mesh grille insert protects the radiator from debris on the trail, there are a pair of big auxiliary lights mounted on the bumper, and should you need it, a big spare mounted on the tailgate in back. Jeeps have pretty much always looked like this, which is surely why we love them so much.

Given the capabilities of this Jeep, the interior is really very well finished, from the tan bucket seats to black carpets on the floor to the bright instrument panel. Newer seat covers replicate the originals and have a proper 1970s look and minimal wear. An aftermarket center console was installed between them and includes a locking compartment and a pair of cup holders, although if you're using this Jeep correctly, no cup holder will do what you need it to. A T-handle shifter controls the 3-speed manual transmission, and just ahead there's a chrome panel with original gauges that offer bright, crisp markings. There's also an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit and a leather-wrapped wheel, so it isn't completely uncivilized. It also includes a bikini top, so at least the guys in the front seat don't need to worry (much) about the weather.

With a short wheelbase and a big V8, this CJ moves like a muscle car. The 304 cubic inch V8 is brightly detailed and ready to rock with chrome valve covers and an Edelbrock air cleaner up top, along with new equipment like the power brake booster and master cylinder. Bright blue paint on the engine itself stands out in the all-black engine bay, and with long-tube headers and an exhaust system tucked into the rocker panels, the low-end torque is more than impressive. The chassis was obviously recently and comprehensively restored, with fresh paint on the running gear, a set of Rough Country shocks, a lift kit, and Rancho steering stabilizer. Skid plates, heavy-duty axles at both ends, and other off-road-critical components are all in good order, and it offers power front disc brakes, a nice safety feature. Deeply dished Mickey Thompson alloys look awesome, particularly wrapped in giant 33x14.5-15 Super Swamper off-road tires.

Admit it, this is the Jeep you've always wanted. Here it is in excellent shape with a recent restoration. All you have to do is call!
