BEAUTIFUL BLUE WITH SILVER COVES, 283 CID, 3 SPEED MANUAL, SURVIVOR, WELL PRICED

This 1959 Chevrolet Corvette is a great survivor at an even better price. The '59s are extremely popular with 'Vette enthusiasts, and with just 70,791 believed to be actual miles on the clock and a bunch of recent work, this is a wonderful car that's ready to enjoy without worrying about an investment going bad, which is how it should be.

Coming out of long-term ownership (more than three decades), you know this car has been loved. But part of that love means it's been enjoyed as designed and so it's not a show piece. On the other hand, you also know that it's fully sorted and someone has been tending it properly all those years. The Frost Blue finish compliments the Inca Silver side coves, this car truly has all the wonderful C1 Corvette charm you want. The fiberglass is in great condition and the paint does have that soft luster that only comes with age, so it attracts attention from everyone not because it's perfect, but because it's obviously been enjoyed. Some new chrome has been mixed in with the other stuff and it all looks right, with nothing standing out for being too bright or too tarnished, and the stainless trim around the side coves shines up quite nicely.

On the other hand, you also know that it's fully sorted and someone has been tending it properly all those years. 1959 was an interesting year for Corvette interiors, with horizontal pleats (1958 and 1960 used vertical pleats) and an all-black interior was available for the first time. Like the exterior, the all-original interior has a comfortable, inviting, casual feeling that whispers for you to climb in for a road trip, not a warning to stay back and not risk getting it dirty. The carpets are might be newer, the rest is original, including the door panels with that dramatic swath of engine-turned metal. The gauges include a fully complement of dials to monitor all the engine's vitals, and this is an original radio-delete car with a factory block-off plate. The trunk is Spartan, but includes a full-sized spare wheel and tire of indeterminate age. The removable hardtop was a no-cost option in place of a folding top, which is how this car is spec'd, giving us the impression that the original owner knew exactly what he was doing when he ordered it.

A NOM 283 cubic inch V8 provides authentic-feeling power. With a freshly rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor and a recent tune-up, it runs superbly, with great mid-range punch that makes this car feel years younger than it is. Correct details abound, from the Corvette valve covers to an original generator, and even the original ignition shield is in place. A 3-speed manual transmission feeds power aft to the original rear end, and the brakes have been recently serviced, including new linings, rear brake lines, and a master cylinder. It's quite original underneath but shows evidence of all those years of being loved, and the F78-15 blackwall tires on the original hubcaps gives it a period-correct no-nonsense look.

Just an honest vintage Corvette with the kind of patina that only comes from loving care over many, many years. It's not a garage ornament or an investment, it's an awesome car built to be driven. Call today!
