The odometer says 7696 miles and given the overall condition of the car, we have no reason to doubt it is correct. I mean, every single piece of this car is pretty much as it was the day it rolled out of the showroom. The Firethorn Red paint shines brilliantly with a very impressive gloss that you wouldn't think would have been possible in the '70s, but thanks to decades of expert care and polishing, it looks spectacular. It's never been wrecked or rusty, that much is certain. Those immense doors fit well and swing easily on well-oiled hinges and even the massive hood fits right. The white vinyl half roof (called a Coach Roof in period brochures) gleams like it's never seen rain and while there's a lot of chrome here, none of it looks excessive. Even the plastic body fillers on the end of the rear quarters and at the license plate gas filler area are in excellent shape, and these are always the first places these cars start to show their age. It's really very impressive.

If you thought the outside was nice, wait until you get a look at the stunning interior. That's a lot of red, but it's all very tastefully done in a combination of red velour and vinyl. The split bench is power-actuated and perfect for long hauls across the Texas deserts and there's seemingly infinite legroom both front and rear. The cleanly-styled dashboard stretches across two zip codes and includes things like automatic climate control, cruise control, a tilt/telescope column, power antenna, and, of course, power windows and locks. The original AM/FM stereo radio lives in the dash and has surprisingly rich sound and the original Cadillac-emblem floor mats, which are completely unobtainable today, are in excellent condition. Open the trunk and you'll be stunned to find a massive storage compartment that's like new, including a full-sized spare and jack assembly. Oh, and don't slam the trunk lid; close it gently and it'll pull itself down automatically.

1976 was the final year for Cadillac's giant 500 cubic inch V8. Effortless torque was the name of the game, and the big engine simply ignores the loads imposed by the A/C compressor and power steering, not to mention 4800 pounds of sheetmetal. For documentation purposes, this engine bay is a road map for judges and restorers, and everything about it is pretty much as the factory built it. Cadillac Blue paint on the engine, a big air cleaner with intake silencer, and a giant radiator are all original spec. The TH400 3-speed automatic feeds 2.73 gears in the gargantuan rear end, and it's quite possible that parts of the exhaust system are original. A few of the heavy cast iron parts are crusty, but that's how it came from the factory due to a process called "pickling" that helps protect those parts by giving them a flash-coat of oxidation. Factory wire wheels look flashy and ride inside 235/75/15 Firestone whitewall radials.
