The Ford Ranger has always represented an affordable option for truck enthusiasts. However, originally the Ranger represented way more than just a mid-size pickup. From 1965 to 1981, the Ranger designated a stylish trim package for the F-series pickups. Take for example this pristine 1974 Ford F100 Ranger. Priced extremely competitively, restored to near factory conditions, and sold with a load of original documentation, it stands today as an affordable investment grade Ford truck.
It's very rare you find a 70's era F-100 Ranger this nice. This one carries factory correct black paint and XLT badges on what appears to be the original sheetmetal, promoting that this truck was cared for from day one. The Ranger package was the top-of-the-line package for the F100 and offered a ton of chrome and stainless trim, including lots of brightwork on the flanks and rocker panels as well as on the tailgate. There's also a matching chrome rear bumper, and a painted bed liner that is ready for duty!
Pop open the doors and you'll find a factory correct black cloth interior that is clearly the way trucks were meant to be. It's hard to go wrong with black on black, and it gives this Ranger an upscale feel. The interior is incredibly clean and for the most part appears to be very original. On the floor, the carpets are protected by a FoMoCo branded rubber floor mat that stretches from door to door. The bench seat is covered in what appears to be fresh gray cloth that shows little to no wear at all. Moving to the dash, what look to be the original gauges are all neatly tucked into place and surrounded by wood grain accents. In front of the driver, a three-spoke wood grain steering wheel is a very nice upgrade. Equipped with AM/FM radio and coupled with air conditioning, this truck will keep you comfortable regardless what it is being used for.
Underneath the black hood is a torquey 360 cubic inch V8 that provides all the reliable power you could ever want out of a truck. Atop the engine is a massive chrome air filter that feeds the Holley 4-barrel below. On either side of the carburetor you'll find chrome valve covers that rest upon the legendary blue of the Ford block. It's a clean engine bay that appears to have received necessary maintenance when needed. With a swell of torque, and a wonderful sound from the dual exhaust system, you'll enjoy piloting this big truck. And it rolls at highway speeds very nicely. Bolted to the Ford block is a highway ready 3-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with power steering and power front disc brakes this truck just keeps impressing. At the corners you'll find 15" American Racing rims that have been wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial rubber.
Sold with the original protect-o-plate, dealer invoice, and owner's manual, this is a truck that you really have to see in person to appreciate. But trust us, vehicles with this pedigree don't last long in our showroom. Call today!
