Survivor!! With a rising demand for second generation Trans Ams, it is becoming increasingly hard to find an original, numbers matching survivor car that carries a solid shell and reliable drivetrain. Since new, this 1979 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am and has been maintained to keep this car unrestored for over 30 years!
Built on the second week of February in 1979, this Trans Am was covered in a coat of Nocturn Blue lacquer based paint at the famous Norwood, Ohio assembly plant. Today that paint shows a usual patina and normal wear you would expect from a 35 year old car that has not seen a re-spray. All of the decals are present and in their correct locations from when they were installed at the assembly line. They show some age, but as the saying goes, "they're only original once," and this is still a finish you can show off and be proud of knowing what you have is a true survivor. The removable Fisher T-tops remain clear without any major surface marks and can be stowed away safely in their factory bags that fit with ease in the trunk.

Survivor!! With a rising demand for second generation Trans Ams, it is becoming increasingly hard to find an original, numbers matching survivor car that carries a solid shell and reliable drivetrain. The removable Fisher T-tops remain clear without any major surface marks and can be stowed away safely in their factory bags that fit with ease in the trunk.
When you have a seat in this original interior you'll be surprised at how clean it is. It's obvious the car has not gone through a restoration, but there are certainly younger cars with much more worn interiors. The seats remain plush with clean cloth covering the buckets. The dash is clean and crack free with an odometer showing 72,030 miles. There is a working quartz clock next to the tachometer, and the machine turned dash bezel surrounds the switches and vents for the air conditioning. There is a Kenwood flip AM/FM/CD radio under those switches. The center console houses a storage compartment, switches for the power windows and the gear selector for the automatic transmission. Overall it's a comfortable and fairly clean interior that's ready for a new owner to enjoy.
Under the hood is the original 6.6 liter Pontiac V8 that the car left the factory with. Like the rest of the car, this engine bay has seen typical wear from a car that is over 30 years old. There is a new battery installed so you can feel confident in that 403 cubic inch motor firing to life. That engine is mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. Those 5 spoke wheels are wrapped in 235/70/R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/A rubber that stays planted to the ground through a straight and solid chassis. Providing confident turns and stops are power brakes with discs up front and power steering.
This '79 Trans Am provides an excellent opportunity for the enthusiasts that is looking for a fun survivor car to enjoy today. With the collector demand quickly on the rise for these cars, this numbers matching specimen will surely be a hot topic in our showroom. Call today!
