With all the resto-mods and custom cars running around, sometimes it's refreshing to see a clean and honest early Mustang. This lovely 1966 Ford Mustang coupe features a wonderful color combination, a sweet-running 289, and an extra-large dose of charm.
Code Y Silver Blue was the factory color for this pony car, but it's been replaced with a more desirable coat of vivid red paint. It's a captivating look that will certainly age well with the Mustang's lines. Bodywork is fair, making this car the perfect driver that you don't need to worry about ruining a concours quality finish, staying true to the Mustang's roots as an affordable, fun car. It's also nicely detailed just as it would have been in 1966, with chrome bumpers, cool inserts in the quarter panels, and those iconic 289 badges on the front fenders. Chrome Crager wheels measure in at 14'' and complete the classic look we've all come to love with older Mustangs.
The interior makes for a great color combination, finished in clean black vinyl. The interior makes for a great color combination, finished in clean black vinyl. Fresh seat covers with Ford's trademark comfort-weave inserts give the buckets a racy look, while remaining comfortable enough for long-distance cruising. Black carpets have been fitted and are topped with a full length center console that houses the shifter for the automatic transmission. The interior is quite nice, showing very little wear and offering all the charm that made Mustangs famous. All the gauges appear functional, as is the aftermarket Sony AM/FM/cassette radio in the dash.
A Mustang with a V8 is always a joy, and the 289 cubic inch V8 under the hood of this pony will prove to be a joy as well. Dressed in Ford Blue with chrome Edelbrock air cleaner, it's a traditional look that is always appealing. It may not be taking home any trophies any time soon, but the engine bay is simple and is ready for an enthusiastic owner to give it the treatment of their own vision. This car was meant to be driven and enjoyed and the Flowmaster exhaust system is the perfect accompanying soundtrack: mellow without being too loud. A C4 3-speed automatic backs up the engine with crisp shifts and quick reflexes, and 205/70/14 tires transfers those shifts to the pavement.
Good, clean, honest Mustangs like this are getting increasingly hard to find. If you appreciate them as honest cruisers without all the go-fast bits, this is an excellent choice. At the price we have this one at, it'll be hard to find a comparable cruiser that's ready to drive. Call today!
