When the DaimlerChrysler Performance Vehicle Operations came together with Dodge Viper engineers and the Plymouth Prowler engineers the effectively created the ultimate Ram truck, that had only one purpose for its existence: speed. With a limited amount made with the Viper engine, this low mileage truck has quickly made it to the list of modern collectible autos.

With only 698 Bright Silver Metallic Clear Coat 2004 SRTs produced, this is one rare find, and nearly 10 years later, and under 40,000 miles, it is still absolutely breath-taking. Now the question is, what is making you take that quick gasp? It could be a couple of different things, like the mean, meaty looking front end with the hood scoop and honeycombed grill with the recognizable Dodge cross in the middle. Or possibly the gasp could come from the sleek, lowered look of the SRT-10 rolling on Viper inspired 22" 10 spoke wheels. The crisp, clean paint, along the headlights with the black-out treatment shows this truck has subtle upgrades that give it a noticeable edge to other trucks. At the back you'll find LED taillights and an aluminum gas lid which gives the truck just enough of a pop without taking away any class. The black truck liner shows that this truck can be used to haul loads, but make no mistake this truck was designed more about the speed.

PVO designers didn't want you forgetting what you were operating when behind the wheel of this truck. The foundation is obviously Dodge Ram, but little details remind you that you are in something special. While sitting in the sporty, leather wrapped bucket seats with suede inserts, you're within easy reach of the shifter, and although it is a replacement it looks right at home in the smart interior. Viper floor mats dress the bottom of this cabin while a 'Viper Powered' and 'SRT-10' branded trim panel engages the passenger. The driver of this hot rod hauler is greeted by silver-faced SRT gauges, and an oil temp gauge that rests in an A-pillar gauge pod, while the red 'Engine Start' button is where all of the excitement begins. Providing some luxury to the sport are factory options such as power seats, air conditioning, and cruise control. Also with this SRT-10 you can enjoy a six-disc CD changer located in the dash, brushed aluminum HVAC knobs, and tinted windows.

The Viper's V10 is an easy fit in the cavernous Ram engine bay, and it totally transforms the truck. Somehow they got this beast to stay on the road when you channel 500 horsepower through it, and the engine is completely stock, so you know it hasn't been raced or abused. Somewhere along the way someone thought it a good idea to paint the standard red valve covers in a bright green. Whatever the reason, it absolutely works in this engine bay. With all that power available below your right foot, its important that you have a drive-line that can take it. So the PVO engineers linked it to the Viper's 6-speed manual gearbox, and the suspension was heavily revised to make the Ram a capable handler, if not exactly agile.
