Without a doubt the El Caminos are a unique piece of the American Muscle landscape. With decades of tradition behind it, this 1970 specimen is an awesome and affordable classic, and has a lot to offer the beginning collector or seasoned Elky fan. If you've been looking for one that hasn't been worked to death or modified beyond recognition, this might be your last chance.
It's hard to go wrong with red on an iconic Chevrolet, and on this car it works really well. With silver stripes decorating the hood along with the cowl induction, there will be no doubt about what lies in wait under the hood. The front is also outfitted with silver hood pins up front, while the brightwork throughout the body is polished and adds a sparkle that stands out nicely against the red paint.
The long, clean lines have been accented with chrome work and really help to make the squared-up stance show well. This SS tribute has all the correct badges on the front grille and the front fenders and the bed looks too good to haul anything in as the wooden bed appears to be in great shape.
The clean interior is tasteful, starting with the split bench seats wrapped in comfortable red velour fabric. The black door panels appear to be brand new and match the plush black carpet, and the black dash. Up top, a new headliner helps to finish off the look of the interior. In the dash sits what appears to be original gauges, and an SS tilt steering wheel will not let the driver forget the power that rests under the hood. In the dash you'll find an AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit that offers good sound for cruising. The column shifter makes this third generation El Camino an easy drive for anyone who sits behind the wheel.
Lift the long red and silver hood and you'll reveal the rebuilt 350 cubic inch V8 nestled in. The engine bay is clean, well sorted, and ready to sit proudly at a car show with the hood up. The block that is painted in the famous Chevy orange is nicely decorated with a chrome air filter and Chevrolet branded valve covers. Equipped with power steering and power brakes, this El Camino is a dream to drive. Bolted to the potent 350 is an automatic transmission that sends power through the 2.73 gear posi 12 bolt rear end. Spent gasses travel out the new exhaust system. Stopping power is provided by disc brakes in the front and drum brakes in the rear. In front of those brakes, you'll find Rally wheels that have been wrapped in Stinger Radial GTS rubber.
Properly sorted cars are hard to find, especially since most El Caminos led hard lives. But yet this El Camino is ready for go and show. Drive it, have fun, and don't forget that it still might enjoy working once in a while, too. Call today!
