Those who are familiar with the many motors available in the 1963 SS package know that the 350 was not one of them, but this powerplant is an upgrade from original. A fresh crate motor was installed only about 200 miles ago. This comes with the dyno sheets (at 387 rear wheel HP) to prove it has been tuned to compete with just about everything else out there on the streets. So this coupe is more powerful, and reliable than those Impalas that have had the same motor for 50+ years. The new V8 also included an upgrade to the GM TH350 three-speed automatic transmission. When it's time to impress at the car show, the engine bay won't disappoint. It grabs attention with some nice chrome touches, modern Chevrolet performance valve covers, and plenty of cool vintage components like the factory-installed windshield washer glass bottle.
