If all you need is a cool summer drotop 4x4, then we suggest you look elsewhere. Because while every Jeep is ready to hit the trail, it takes a very special one like this 1989 Wrangler Tomahawk rock crawler to conquer anything in its path.

It's obvious from every angle that this is a custom build made to traverse territories that have never seen a vehicle before. More than just the massive ground clearance, the entire front fender section has been re-tubbed to carry enough suspension travel to overcome boulders. The rear end has even less fender restriction, so all four wheels can handle separate elevations with ease. Still not convinced? Just look at the tires. The Goodyear MT/R units are reinforced with Kevlar, so they are literally designed for bulletproof off-road performance. Still, there is some beauty in this beast. The parts that you scrape the most have been hit with an easily replaceable black paint, and as an added bonus, it makes for a nice complement to the electric blue body with Tomahawk graphic. And yes, that is a Ramsey 9500 winch mounted to the front end.

Inside, everything has been customized so the driver is in complete control. There's a full set of AutoMeter gauges that provides information on the monster motor (we'll get into all those details shortly). While this is the ultimate off-road machine, there have not been any compromises. For example, the fuel cell does not intrude on the full standard Wrangler interior. Even the convertible top still fits over the full custom roll cage. Plus, within the center console is a booming Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo that's connected to enough amplified speakers to wake the whole campsite. If that wasn't enough, you can do your own broadcasting with the onboard CB and PA system.

Under the hood there has been a serious Mopar upgrade. The 300 hp 5.9-liter V8 is so massive it barely fits under the hood... but that's only the beginning. Added to this are upgrades that include a FAST electronic fuel injection system, performance air induction, ceramic coated headers, and a massive Power Master 155 amp alternator. This is mated to a three-speed automatic with a 2,000 rpm stall converter specially built by TCI performance and B&M. The extra power is handled by a NP241 two-speed transfer case. With all of this heavy-duty equipment, the axles were upgraded to be up for any task. The front and rear are Dana 60s adapted from a 1-ton Dodge Ram. Both are running 35 spline axles with a Yukon locker front and Detroit locker rear. The builder knew the front wheels might often be stuck between a rock and a hard place in this Wrangler. This is why he installed a full PSC power steering system with variable ratio steering box to make sure you can stay the course no matter what's in the way. There's even an on-board air compressor, and a full LED lighting system under the carriage so your spotter can see obstacles under your monster. All of this combined is to remind you that there's only one name in 4x4...Jeep.
