Having a fast classic often means giving up some vintage appearance to make way for serious power. This 1966 Chevrolet Chevy II Nova doesn't have that problem because it looks perfect for cruising, but when the time is right, this coupe has also got the power to prove it's the king of the streets in its super slick coat of orange.

The crisp Nova body has always been popular with hot rodders and we have seen a huge increase over the last few months as well. Chevrolet made these sleepers from the factory and that attitude has served it well right into modern times. Rendered in extremely slick, and very fashionable metallic burnt orange paint, most folks take one look at the sleek lines and figure that it has to be customized, but the truth is, this is just the product of a high quality restoration. Aside from the cowl induction hood and custom wheels, the rest of the car is original GM styling. Even most of the trim remains intact, including the rocker moldings, grille, and bright chrome bumpers front and rear. To be honest, GM couldn't have pulled off this quality from its factory back in the day...it's that nice!

The black interior is so new that the carpet inserts are still in plastic wrap. The vinyl on the doors and bucket seats respect the original design, but there are also some cool upgrades throughout the rest of this Nova. The center console and glovebox have been polished to a mirror shine. The AM/FM knob-style radio might look vintage but it has an auxiliary jack to plug in modern tunes. The driver gets a grippy three-spoke Chevy sports steering wheel. Beyond that are the original gauges, but as you can tell from the pictures, those are far from the only readouts in this Nova. There are auxiliary gauges for power, water, and oil as well as a massive column-mounted tachometer, and they all are clear indicators that there is something special going on under the hood.

One turn of the key will convince you that there is some serious power lurking. It's a 385 cubic-inch stroker V8 by Dart... Not Dart as in Mopar, but as in Dart Special High Performance. These are the people to turn to when you want a huge motor with near bulletproof build quality. But the performance upgrade doesn't end there. This Nova is full of goodies like MSD electronic ignition, Dart Sportsman heads, and a Magnum hydraulic flat tappet camshaft from Comp Cams. Besides the serious power, the engine bay has clearly been dressed for show with plenty of chrome on everything, from the hood hinges to the shock towers. That might impress at the front, but at the rear, the dual exhaust with performance H-pipe construction rumbles with enough authority to make sure that everyone gives this Nova the respect it deserves. Just in case that was not intimidating enough, this coupe has no trouble getting its muscle to the streets thanks to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission built by TCI with a 3,500 rpm stall converter. Then the power is sent to a stout Ford 9-inch rear end running a 3.36 gear and Positraction. Stopping is even not a problem thanks to front disc brakes with Kumho tires for modern grip.

This Nova has show-winning vintage looks on the outside and a snarling beast under the hood. It's the best of all the classic car worlds in one coupe. What more could you ask for...call now!!
