289 V8, AUTO, AIR COND, PWR STEER, C-CODE, PONY INTERIOR, FUN CLASSIC CRUISER!

It's time to put a pony car in your garage. This 1966 Ford Mustang coupe with a C-code 289 is an affordable way to own America's favorite weekend getaway car.

If you're going to have a Mustang, it's hard to beat Candy Apple Red. The paint and bodywork were redone recently, and since then, the car shows signs of excellent care as it's been driven and enjoyed. Gaps and alignment are up to factory standards, and while it never carried a lot of ornamentation, many regard the simplified 1966 models as the cleanest of the early Mustangs. Chrome is good, including the new-for-1966 grille that featured horizontal bars in place of 1965's honeycomb pattern, and a “corral” that now floated, instead of being suspended on four bars.

The first thing that welcomes you when you open the door are the plush red crinkle vinyl bucket seats. Of course this includes the desirable “Pony” package that adds an upgraded luxury interior with the prancing horses embedded into the seats. The five-dial gauge panel became standard in 1966, which offers a sportier look and holds a complete set of gauges. A newer AM/FM stereo head unit fits neatly in the original radio's location and it provides a nice complement ... Please ask for the full description.

Chrome is good, including the new-for-1966 grille that featured horizontal bars in place of 1965's honeycomb pattern, and a "corral" that now floated, instead of being suspended on four bars.

The first thing that welcomes you when you open the door are the plush red crinkle vinyl bucket seats. Of course this includes the desirable "Pony" package that adds an upgraded luxury interior with the prancing horses embedded into the seats. The five-dial gauge panel became standard in 1966, which offers a sportier look and holds a complete set of gauges. A newer AM/FM stereo head unit fits neatly in the original radio's location and it provides a nice complement to the chrome trim around the gauges and the three-spoke steering wheel. Of course the piece of brightwork you'll really enjoy are the vents on the cold-blowing air conditioning. This just helps makes this classic cruiser comfortable enough for even the daily commute.

Ford's reliable and perky 289 cubic-inch V8 moves the lightweight Mustang enthusiastically through any traffic. The engine bay is tidy but not over-detailed, so you shouldn't be afraid to put this one on the road. However, it does look nice and original with a coat of Ford blue paint on the block and the correct air cleaner that includes the 289 decal. These engines are extremely reliable, parts are readily available, and performance is very good, making it a joy to drive. Adding to this go-anywhere feeling in this classic is the power steering and the C4 three-speed automatic transmission. Despite the period-correct styled steel wheels, they are riding modern 205/70/R14 Michelin tires for maximum comfort.

Here's a great classic Mustang that you can get into for less than the cost of a new one. You get to have all the fun of vintage motoring, and in this car, you get all the features you could ever need, too. Call today!!
