When it comes to classic pickups, you want two things: vintage looks, and rare options. This 1956 Ford F-100 has both and much more.
It doesn't take for you to fall in love with this truck because the Ford F-100 is arguably the best-looking post-war pickup, and 1956 tends to be the favorite year. It only gets better when you take a look at the super-slick paintjob that makes the black rival the chrome for shininess in the sunlight. Of course the is amazing because '56 was the only year for this unique horizontal grille that goes uninterrupted from headlight to headlight. Also, this was the first year for the wraparound windshield, but what you'll really want to take notice of is the optional big wraparound rear window – an exceptionally rare find today. Another extraordinary piece is the “overdrive” script below the Ford crest on the hood. We'll go into detail about the drivetrain shortly, but it's worth pointing out this text now because it's the kind of factory option that will draw attention at the car shows. Period-correct classic trucks are about authenticity not luxury. The driver gets the classic large embossed three-spoke wheel that always seems to be grippy from every angle. This is a true workman's vehicle, so extravagance means items like the heater that was there to warm you up after a long fall day out in the fields or woods. Still, there are some interesting style touches to the interior. For example, the red bench seat offers some nice color and it matches the F-O-R-D lettering on the outside hood badging and hubcaps.
With a pickup that's been this authentic so far, you would expect nothing less than the period-correct 272 cubic-inch Y-block V8 living under the hood. It has all the great elements of a classic truck powerplant, like the tall carburetor, and oil bath air cleaner. Because this was the optional motor, it even has the valve covers announcing it as the Power King for the F-100. This V8 connects to a three-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, which makes it a rare option over the usual Ford-O-Matic unit. Because of all the restoration work that has gone into this truck, it runs smooth and feels competent on the road well beyond its near 60 years in the world.
This Ford pickup isn't just beautiful. It also has a host of rare features, and steady reliability. It's this kind of full package that you can take out anytime and instantly turn heads. And at a price like this, it wont stay in our showroom long, call today!!
