This 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible is a pristine pony car on the outside, but packs a 455 cubic inch punch under its pointed hood. Add in a handsome interior, and you have a great choice for warm weather fun.
There's no sneaking around in a Firebird convertible painted Flame Red. It's dripping with the kind of shine that rivals the cool chrome bumper/grille. Good bodywork underneath surely helps, and the crease that runs from nose to tail is crisply defined, and the gills in the quarter panels are a cool contrast that helps break up the otherwise smooth body. It's really nicely done too! A convertible that has been restored but not modified means no deck lid spoiler or other add-ons, just a clean F-body that looks like a million bucks. This one is not too boisterous beyond its hood scoops and rally wheels with PMD center caps. Instead, it simply lets the hardware to the talking.
The black bucket seat interior is neatly done, and appears factory spec at first glance. A center console is a welcome upgrade as well as the air conditioning.
The knob-style radio looks the part, but it's really a modern tuner with remote control, digital media hookup, and a kickin' subwoofer in the trunk. Everyone can enjoy those upgrades, but this is really the driver's treat with a custom three-spoke sport steering wheel. It frames the custom Sport-Comp gauge set that goes well beyond the factory's original information, with readouts for everything from the oil pressure, to air/fuel mixture. While this is the perfect sunny day machine, the power folding white vinyl top is in the ideal condition to ensure this is an all-weather friend.
These first year Firebirds topped out at 400 cubic-inches. That was plenty of power, but this one hides a secret that comes from later in the muscle car wars. This '67 is running a extremely desireable, monster 455 V8 borrowed from a '71 Pontiac. It gets both more aggressive and bulletproof, thanks to upgrades like a high flow water pump, high torque flywheel, high torque starter, and flame thrower ignition. This whole package creates a seriously sweet sound from the dual exhaust. It's backed up by a stout TH350 three-speed automatic transmission, which also makes this the perfect cruiser. Add in the power steering, front disc brakes, and modern BF Goodrich T/As at all four corners, and this big motor ragtop is also a fine Sunday driver.
This Pontiac's great original looks are backed up by the owner's manual and service books. And its restoration and upgrades are documented by plenty of photos and receipts. So yes, this is the kind of amazing Firebird that won't stick around here long. Call today!!
