VERY NICE FACTORY 5 COBRA, BUILT 5.0L STROKED TO A 347 MAKING OVER 400HP, REMOVE

Want to relive the glory years of Ford dominating the race scene in the 1960s? Just show up at your local open track event with this 1965 Shelby Cobra replica, complete with gumball and sponsorship decals. Or, perhaps you're the more reserved type (yeah, as if a Cobra is anything but in-your-face), in which case you'll be pleased to learn that all those decals are completely removable.

The good news, of course, is that the Cobra underneath is pretty darned nice. It's a Factory Five Mark 3, their state-of-the-art replica that's accurate enough to pull off the look, but carries a bunch of upgrades that Ol' Shel would probably have done himself if he'd had the resources. While the aluminum originals and mega-dollar replicas are nice, do you really want to risk someone leaning on it and making a dent? Of course not, so what you want is this car with its tough fiberglass skin. It's very professionally finished, with great gaps and a smooth surface for the bright Speedway Blue with Wimbledon White stripes, so it looks like a million bucks. The fenders are a bit more aggressively flared to handle the wider modern rubber, but you really can't go too aggressive with a Cobra. For authenticity, ... Please ask for the full description.

For authenticity, there's an oil cooler up front, Plexiglass wind wings, and small Lucas-style taillights and jacking stubs outback. Finished in 2006, it still looks like a million bucks.

Factory Five also does a fine job of giving the interior of their Cobras a very vintage look. From the low-back buckets to the reverse-canted shifter lever, it'll be easy to imagine yourself racing down the back stretch at Lemans from behind the wheel. Twin roll bars and racing harnesses suggest that this one was built for track day fun, and there's a comprehensive array of Ford Racing instruments to watch the hot small block up front. A thin-rimmed wood wheel looks totally authentic, complete with Cobra horn button that matches the embroidered floor mats. Useful stuff (strange in a Cobra, I know) includes a Plexiglass sun shade for the driver and a glove box for the passenger, plus a fire extinguisher strapped under the dash.

Factory Five's appeal is the use of Mustang 5.0 components, and while this one is made up of 95% new parts, there's no denying that you can build one raucous 5.0 using those parts. Actually, this one's a 347 inch stroker, topped by aluminum AFR 185 heads and a Cobra Mustang intake, all making more than 400 horsepower. The fuel injected mill loves to rev thanks to a radical F-cam from Ford Motorsports that pops Crane lifters and a set of billet roller rockers. For dress-up, there are billet pulleys, finned valve covers, and ceramic-coated headers and side pipes. Best of all, it carries a California SB100 decal, so it's exempt from most smog laws. That Tremec TKO 600 5-speed manual transmission can take all the punishment you can dish out, and the 8.8-inch rear axle hangs on a 4-link suspension and is full of 3.73 gears for explosive acceleration at any speed in any gear. The powdercoated chassis includes 4-wheel disc brakes, fresh suspension arms and bushings, and fat Nitto radials (255/45/17 555s up front and giant 315/35/17 drag radials out back) on late-model Mustang wheels.

Clearly built to take no prisoners, this Cobra replica is either the ultimate street fighter or a track day weapon that will never become boring. Call today!
