This 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS convertible is exactly what you want when you're a well-rounded classic car owner. It has the beautiful exterior for those who love to go to car shows; it has that great power convertible top that impresses friends and family; and the 327ci V8 and four-speed manual beg to be taken out to enjoy on sunny day cruises.
LeMans Blue is one of the best names in Chevy paints. It's borrowed from the Corvette's pallet from the same era, and its name simply suggests that you have a faster car than everyone else. It's a recent application, so the color takes advantage of modern clearcoats that give a nice luster in the sunlight. And let's face it, with a convertible this cool, you'll be out on plenty of sunny days. It has the attractive white hockey stick striping, which also helps prove just how straight the body is on this convertible, and pops against the blue. The brightwork in '68 was not overly done from the factory, but you would only notice if it were not this complete and pristine on areas like the thin bumpers, rocker panels, or the taillight surrounds. Description
Rally wheels are a must-have on a Camaro like this, and of course, what really makes this a desirable Chevy is the Rally Sport package, with the headlights that are hidden behind the mean-looking blacked front out panel.
Underneath the black vinyl power folding roof is a clean black vinyl interior. The low-back bucket seats stay below the doorline to give the car a great profile with the top up or down. These seats as very nice, as the matching carpets and door panels all have the feeling of fresh maintenance or proper replacement – something you always want in a convertible. The wood paneling on the center console and dash do a nice job of warming up the interior. Plus, the bright dials on the original AM/FM radio, heater/defrost, and Astro ventilation give this more of that classic '60s feeling. But the most important pieces are reserved for the driver. The thin three-spoke wood sports steering wheel feels great in your left hand, and your right one will never want to leave the comfort of the Hurst shifter.
The 327 cubic-inch V8 fires up with the kind of consistency you could get from a daily driver. Of course, the rumble coming from the Flowmaster dual exhaust will make your neighbor regret he doesn't own a car like this. You get to take full advantage of the V8 thanks to the Muncie M20 four-speed manual transmission. All the power that you want to make will reliably get to the ground, thanks to a stout 12-bolt rear end. This one is running lower gears in the rear end so you can have an easy takeoff from every stoplight. But more than just being about sports car fun, this one has the features you want for an anytime cruiser. This includes power steering, front disc brakes, and the modern grip of BF Goodrich T/A tires.
The secret to bliss is hoping in, pressing a button to open the top, twisting the key, and rowing the 4 speed through the gears to happiness. You're an all-around classic car owner, and this Camaro convertible is an ultimate all-around classic car. Call now!!
