The factory-correct code-T red paint has obviously been upgraded because there is a luster that the factory could never achieve in the '70s. But this is one of those cars that really impresses you in the details. The Mach 1 was arguably the best-looking Mustang of all time, and with upgrades like the hood scoop, chin spoiler, hood locks, slotted rear window louvers, and rear wing, it certainly looks the part of a high-performance pony. Special Mach 1 pieces like the rocker panel moldings are beautifully finished, and the blacked out stripe treatment with 351 callouts is expertly applied. Chrome bumpers sparkle against the bright red paint, and all the stainless trim has been polished to an exceptional shine.

There is no better muscle car interior than black, but that doesn't mean the Comfort-Weave buckets can't have a streak of color for a cool aggressive touch that matches the exterior. All the right stock pieces are still in place, from the center console to the three-spoke woodgrained steering wheel. The gauges are clean and crisp, with the markings still vivid and bright. You even get the original factory air conditioning still blowing cold. There's an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo that can be adaptable for more modern tunes, but its knob-style doesn't look out of place in the original radio's slot. Of course this is a burly muscle car, so the stereo will always be your second favorite to the rumble of the exhaust note.

Pop the hood, and you'll see something very special. This Mach 1 has a 351 cubic-inch Cleveland V8 as it should, and this one shows plenty of signs of being the factory-installed block. But it does have upgrades you can see, like the Cobra valve coves, and upgrades you can feel like the four-barrel carburetor. The whole package produces some serious power and torque. It lets the world know it by firing up easily with a loud bark from the dual exhaust. The three-speed automatic transmission feeds the Ford nine-inch rear that's running a versatile 3.00 ratio. This power machine also is an effortless cruiser, thanks to power steering and optional front disc brakes.
