You're not going to go wrong with a bright red Mustang, regardless of the other details. Done in two-stage urethane a few years ago, it has a classic look that seems to resisting the passage of time, although there are a few signs of use. Regardless, the paint is much better than the original enamel, and there were no colors in the 1968 catalog that popped like this one does in the sunlight. RESTORED TO DRIVE PONY, STRONG 302 V8, AUTO, POWER STEERING, RUNS & DRIVES GREAT

This 1968 Ford Mustang coupe is proof that you don't need to spend a big pile of money to get a great-looking and driving early pony car. With a stout 302 and an awesome color scheme, this is a fun and fast summertime cruiser that will serve you well for years to come.

Drive this one down the road and expect to have other motorists stopping you to ask, "What color is that?" It's got that classic appeal that everyone agrees is just about right for a Mustang. The most notable flaw is a small dent and scrape on the deck lid, but if you can live with that, you're getting a very clean little pony. Chrome is bright, the stainless has been polished, and all the Mustang badges have been properly placed. It's got the right look.

Inside, a simple black interior shows you why the Mustang was a perennial best-seller. Comfortable, stylish, and nicely finished, it's the perfect complement to the high-impact exterior. The seat covers are obviously modern replacements, yet they work rather well in the vintage hardtop, particularly with the original rear bench. Clean, simple door panels add a little bit of style without erasing the traditional Mustang look, and it includes a color-matched dash and a fat aftermarket steering wheel to complete the look. The original AM radio has been replaced by a custom-fit AM/FM/cassette unit that fits into the original slot, so no cutting and it can be returned to original condition easily. The carpets are a little faded, but that's easy to fix, and the trunk is fitted with a correct plaid mat and a full-sized spare tire.

A familiar 302 cubic inch V8 still lives under the hood, and it has been suitably augmented to go with the general theme of the car. Cast aluminum valve covers and a matching air cleaner have been added and feature a '60s black wrinkle finish. A 4-barrel intake manifold with recently rebuilt carburetor, a mild camshaft inside, and an electronic ignition system help build horsepower, and it looks quite correct with a coat of Ford Blue engine enamel. Better still, this Mustang is equipped with power steering and a C4 3-speed automatic transmission, so it can be as docile or as wild as you want. The chassis is probably original and looks like it's led a very good life someplace warm, as nothing's hiding under a layer of undercoating. The dual exhaust system features Flowmaster mufflers, so it has that distinctive sound and the small block makes the handling pretty darned sharp for a 50-year-old car. Flashy American Racing wheels give it a modern performance look and are fitted with white-letter performance radials.

With great performance, a fantastic engine note, and gorgeous, instantly-recognizable good looks, this '68 Mustang coupe puts you behind the wheel of a legend for not a lot of cash. Reliable, inexpensive to maintain and a lot of fun to drive, these make great toys that can be used like real cars. Call today!
