This stunning 1957 Chevy 3100 pickup truck has obviously received a ton of time and money, a labor of love that has resulted in an exceptionally clean, classic truck that delivers modern performance and comfort. You couldn't build a nicer truck yourself for less money, and this one is fully sorted and ready to rock today.
We all know that any custom vehicle is demanding. They require expert bodywork, flawless paint application, and a lot of time hand-sanding and buffing the finish to get it just right. And you're in luck, because someone went the extra mile to make this one look as good as it does. Gaps are excellent and likely far better than new, the hood fits flush and is centered in the opening, and even the tailgate reflects like a mirror with virtually no distortion. Yeah, someone went way overboard here. The bright turquoise paint is smooth, smooth, smooth and the body mods are invisible but make a big impact.
Chrome bumpers, a bright grille, a subtle exterior visor, and those trick side mirrors dress up the truck, taking it beyond mere tool and into the realm of cool custom. That trick fuel filler door in the back of the cab and a set of flush-mounted taillights are a nice touch. And no vintage pickup is complete with a beautifully finished wood bed, and the one in this truck appears to have hauled nothing rougher than sofa cushions between its custom wheel houses.
Basic black is the theme inside, with a handsome interior makeover that perfectly complements the mild custom exterior. That bench seat was borrowed from a late-model sedan and includes a center armrest. It's covered in pleated black vinyl, and with matching black carpets and inserts on the doors, it has a very sophisticated, polished look. The original gauge package remains, augmented by a set of auxiliary gauges mounted in the dash where the original AM radio used to live. An AM/FM/cassette with CD changer and Vintage Air A/C have been added to make it feel like a much newer ride, and the tilt column looks like it was born there. The finishing touch is a billet steering wheel wrapped in black leather.
Power is delivered by a 350 cubic inch V8 linked to a TH350 3-speed automatic. It covers the basics with a lot of chrome, color matched components like the power brake booster, and smoothed and painted firewall and inner fenders. There's also an Edelbrock carb and intake, plus a set of ceramic-coated long tube headers to make a few extra ponies. Obviously a lot of time was invested in getting all the wiring and plumbing to look tidy, particularly the hoses for the HVAC system and alternator. The bottom of the truck is as beautifully finished as the body, and the contrast between the satin black frame and the turquoise floors is striking. The original rear end hangs out back on a set of lowering springs, disc brakes were fitted all around, and it rides on shiny Weld Pro-Stars with 215/75/15 front and mammoth 375/60/16 rear rubber.
