The market for early '60s Impalas remains strong, and none are so iconic and desirable as the 1964 models. With clean styling, a ton of luxury features, and potent performance thanks to a wide variety of engines under the hood, Chevrolet created an Impala that could be as unique to each buyer as a custom-tailored suit. This very impressive 2-door SS sport coupe (yes it is a real code 14 SS) has been restored as needed, but still carries its original one-year-only silver interior and a bunch of rare options.
Finished in Tuxedo Black, this SS stands out among its more common red brothers. Covering straight, clean bodywork, the brilliant black finish looks awesome with just the right amount of gloss, making it easy to believe it's 1964 all over again. Those long quarter panels are tough to repair if they've been damaged, and given how straight this car is, it's probably never been rusty or hit. All the chrome and other trim pieces, including the bright metal SS insert running the length of the body, is in excellent condition. Up front, the Impala's grille is undamaged, while out back, all six taillights are bright and clear, including the back-up lamps in the center units.

Inside, it's a stunning silver bucket seat interior with a ton of cool options. You've probably never seen silver upholstery, since it was available only in 1964 and only with certain colors, making this car a very rare find. The interior's condition should tell you something about how well-maintained this car has been from new, and it all fits together very nicely with nothing looking too new or too old. The console is original and features the SS-exclusive engine-turned trim that matches the dashboard. There's also an original column-mounted tachometer and all the gauges are fully functional. This car also comes equipped with factory A/C (now with R134a refrigerant) and a rare AM/FM radio with rear speaker. Beautiful SS door panels, fresh black carpets, and an unmarked dash are all evidence of a car that has always been loved. Even the trunk is nicely finished with spatter paint, a full-sized spare, and a pair of accessory fender skirts if you happen to like the long, low, sleek look.
The engine is Chevy's top seller in 1964, a Turbo-Fire 327 cubic inch V8, which is this car's original, numbers-matching powerplant. Contrasting Chevy Orange paint looks great against the satin black engine bay and there haven't been any notable deviations from stock. That's a factory air cleaner, original-style hoses and clamps, as well as a fresh reproduction Delco battery. Underneath, the chassis was detailed and the floors are finished in red oxide primer as original, with just enough overspray to re-create the way they did it at the factory. Brakes and suspension have been maintained to factory specs, and a recent set of mufflers gives the 327 a deep, powerful voice. A 2-speed PowerGlide automatic transmission feeds the original rear end and it rides on 225/70/14 redline radials and original wheels with spinner hubcaps.
With just three owners who all obviously really cared about this car, this is an opportunity to own a stand-out Impala SS with V8 power and a lot of unusual options for a very reasonable price. Call today!
