GREAT LOOKING MUSTANG COUPE, GT BADGING, 289CI, AUTO, GREAT COLOR COMBO

You already know we love early Mustangs around here, but this silver 1965 Mustang coupe hits the sweet spot. Dressed in up GT regalia with a great color combination, it's a great balance of nostalgia, performance, and style, all for a very affordable price.

Silver isn't this car's original color, but does it matter when it looks this good? In truth, it's hard to make an old Mustang look bad, but the shiny paint dresses up the formal coupe bodywork and makes it look modern and grown-up, not like a boy-racer. Thankfully it still carries original-style bodywork, which means no scoops, spoilers, or other add-ons to spoil the fun, and the black stripes along the rockers are proper GT pieces, so they look like they belong. Fit and finish are quite good for a car that's surely going to see a lot of time on the road, and there's nobody who doesn't love seeing this silver pony running down the road. GT fog lamps and a correct rear valence with the exhaust trumpets poking through are correct for a GT model, and there are proper 'GT' and '289' badges in the right places. Fresh chrome bumpers look fantastic, and I particularly like how the bright red taillights show up so vividly against the silver ... Please ask for the full description.

Fresh chrome bumpers look fantastic, and I particularly like how the bright red taillights show up so vividly against the silver paint.

The black bucket seat interior is new, too, and looks quite correct. Standard bucket seats flank a factory console, so it has the right sporty look, and while the steering wheel is a little fatter than stock, it has a Mustang horn button and shiny spokes like the original. New carpets and door panels help with the updated look, and the 5-gauge instrument cluster is another GT-only part (in 1965 anyway) that shows us the builder went the extra mile to get the little stuff right. An AM/FM/cassette stereo slots neatly into the original dash opening and powers speakers creatively stashed throughout the interior. Things like the dash pad, headliner, and kick panels are also recent and in excellent condition, with expert installation that looks better than new. In back, the trunk is finished in black carpet, which gives it a slightly more luxurious feel and helps control noise and heat a bit better, and there's a full-sized spare tire for emergencies.

Ford's 289 cubic inch V8 is a Mustang tradition, providing plenty of punch and a fantastic exhaust note that only a small block can deliver. Thanks to a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, it has instantaneous throttle response, and with plenty of chrome, you'll be anxious to open the hood every chance you get. The engine is painted black, which is correct for 1965, and it sure looks like a fresh build with a new aluminum water pump and lots of components that look like they just came out of the box. Monte Carlo bars reinforce the front end and make a noticeable difference in handling and steering precision and look great, too. The C4 3-speed automatic transmission snaps through the gears without stuttering and feeds the original rear end, which still carries highway-friendly 3.00 gears. There's also a recent dual exhaust system with crossover, so it sounds fantastic. Chrome Cragar mags are a perfect period look and carry 195/60/15 front and 215/60/15 rear BFGoodrich T/A radials.

If you're looking to simply have some fun in an old Mustang, this one is all done and ready to enjoy, delivering everything the Mustang is famous for. Call today!
