The age of the C4 Corvette is coming, if not already here. Sure, the C5 was a revolution in comfort and practicality, and the new C7 offers incredible performance, but the C4 has finally become a legitimate collector's piece. This low-mile C4 roadster represents a great way to get an old car with some oomph behind it, one that's almost universally respected, and whose values can only go up from here.

Showing just 17,036 original miles, this is exactly the kind of car you'll want to add to your collection. Unmodified and beautifully maintained, it's a snapshot of C4 production that hasn't been abused, wrecked, or tweaked for performance. The low mileage promises that everything is in excellent condition (which it is!), yet it's not so shockingly low that deferred maintenance is an issue and you can drive it every now and then without killing its value. And with the bright white paint and red leather interior, it's a classic combination that dates back to Day One of Corvette production. Paint, rubber, and other critical components are in virtually new condition, and this car has obviously not spent a lot of time in the great outdoors, despite its excellent credentials for doing so. The digital dash lights up and provides a full array of information, and since it was the tech-happy early '90s, there are buttons for just about everything, from the climate control to the trip computer. Enthusiasts will be thrilled to see a 6-speed manual gearbox, which gives the C4 a massive performance envelope, including the ability to pull down better than 25 MPG on the highway. Everything works like it should and someone has clearly treated this car as something special from the very beginning. There's a sparkling white convertible top that appears unaffected by age, sealing up tight and stowing easily behind the seats.

Chevy's bulletproof L89 350 cubic inch V8 delivers huge low-end torque, making these early C4s a blast to drive around town. Punchy throttle response and a ferocious V8 growl from the exhaust are especially vivid in a convertible like this, and although there are plenty of modifications out there for these engines, finding one in stock condition is really what you want. From the air cleaner to the custom cover above the distributor cap, it's 100% OEM under the hood with only routine maintenance items replaced over the years. The 6-speed ZF transmission is a joy to shift, and you'll quickly learn to defeat the CAGS 1-4 "skip shift" feature when you're out driving around. Once glance at the undercarriage leaves no doubts as to this car's true low-mileage status, and it still wears unmarked 17-inch alloys and what may very well be its original 275/40/17 Goodyear Gatorback radials.
