You want a hot rod? There's nothing that screams it louder than this 1932 Ford hi-boy roadster. A steel body, cackling small block V8, and great colors make it an ideal choice for the guy who loves a bit of old-school mixed with modern tech to make it fun in today's world.

The guys down at Brookville roadster are still stamping out all-steel Ford bodies, giving cars like this '32 roadster a very authentic vibe. Of course, as new stampings, there are no waves to smooth, no rust to repair, and the fit is extremely good. They also shaved the door handles for you, simply because so many of these are being turned into rods instead of restorations, and the bare-bones hi-boy look is easy to achieve with all-new parts. Cloaking it in vivid red paint is certainly not about subtlety, but the prep and finish work on this car are truly wonderful, with a deep shine and excellent attention to detail that will make it stand out in what is admittedly a pretty crowded field. A color-matched '32 Ford grille shell with insert, a pair of neatly mounted King Bee headlights, and the front suspension out there for everyone to see are all hallmarks that stretch back decades and they've never looked better. '39 Ford teardrop taillights, a smooth rolled rear pan, and a slightly shaved-down windshield complete the familiar look.

There's door-to-door tan ultraleather inside, where a specially-contoured bench seat gives the compact roadster plenty of room for today's taller drivers. Wide pleats on the seat and door panels emulates the fashion of the time, and the bare-bones simplicity of the roadster is a big part of its appeal. A billet steering column with 3-spoke steering wheel hangs on a cool polished aluminum bracket and supports an Auto Meter tach on the column itself. The rest of the gauges are set into the painted dash in a neat, symmetrical pattern that puts them in the middle where they belong. A Hurst shifter has been cleverly modified to manage the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission while looking like an old-school manual lever. There's no radio, no heat, not a single luxury, but isn't that kind of the point with a hi-boy? The only concession to the elements is a lift-off Sid Chavers Bop Top that has a great look and is easy to remove for open-air motoring.

That's a 350 Chevy powerplant out there for everyone to see, which explains why just about everything on it is either polished or plated. An Edelbrock carburetor and intake are familiar and reliable additions, and the aluminum heads not only build horsepower but shed weight, which is the hi-boy's entire reason for existing in the first place. Long-tube headers and a custom polished stainless exhaust system with dumps just ahead of the rear axle give it an awesome hot rod soundtrack. Up front you'll find a dropped I-beam axle with trick disc brakes hidden inside faux Buick drums, while the 9-inch Ford out back hangs on a 4-linke setup and carries 3.50 gears inside. The heavily reinforced chassis was painted to match the bodywork and blends in seamlessly, and there's no way to argue with the quality of the work, it's just gorgeous! Staggered Torque Thrusts are traditional, too, and carry 195/60/15 front and 285/70/15 rear BFGoodrich radials.
