FULLY RESTORED, 1964&1/2 CONVERTIBLE, F CODE 260V8, UNDER DASH A/C, VERY CLEAN

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that the Mustang's 50th birthday party is going on as I write this, and this gorgeous 1964.5 Mustang convertible is almost identical to the one that started it all. A very early build (May 28, 1964), this F-code pony convertible is one of the nicest we've ever featured. Isn't it time you owned a Mustang?

Wimbledon White was the color used on Mustang 001, an F-code convertible not too different from this one. Unquestionably one of the most important cars of the 20th century, that first Mustang started a revolution in transportation that still resonates today. The guys who restored this gorgeous ragtop obviously believed in making their Mustang as nice as it could be, so all the bodywork was expertly fitted and smoothed in preparation for that soft Wimbledon White paint. It's not this car's original color, but who can argue with the look? No liberties were taken with a car of this caliber, so they didn't dress it up like a fake GT (the GT equipment group didn't show up until later in the 1965 model year) and just stuck to the factory recipe. Beautiful chrome bumpers, the stock grille insert with four bars surrounding the corral, and 260 ... Please ask for the full description.

Beautiful chrome bumpers, the stock grille insert with four bars surrounding the corral, and 260 badges on the front fenders to signify the V8 that lived within. If you want a great Mustang, they just don't get much better than this.

A flashy red Pony interior was fitted and nobody's going to argue that it doesn't look fantastic. A classic combination that will never go out of style, every single component inside this Mustang is brand new. Correct seat covers with their unique embossed horses are stretched over factory bucket seats, there are new carpets on the floor, and beautifully finished door panels look like they belong in a far more expensive car. As a color change, if it's red, it's new, including the dash pad, steering wheel, and even the Mustang-logo floor mats. Under-dash A/C was added during the restoration, using a correct head unit with modern mechanicals under the hood for reliability and performance. A modern AM/FM/cassette stereo radio fits in the original slot quite neatly and the gauges were completely restored. A correct T-handle switch actuates the white power convertible top, which stows under a matching red boot. And as you'd expect, the trunk is outfitted for show with a correct mat, spare tire with cover, and matching tool bag.

Mustangs didn't have "matching numbers" in the traditional sense in 1964, but we have every reason to believe this car carries its original F-code 260 cubic inch V8. Properly dressed with a black block and gold valve covers and air cleaner, it has that wonderful bubbly idle and sparkling performance out on the road. The engine bay is correctly detailed with reproduction decals and even a washer bag on the inner fender. Power steering is a highly desirable option, making this Mustang as user-friendly as the legend would suggest, especially with a C4 3-speed automatic transmission behind that V8. There are no surprises underneath, with undercoated floors, a recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system, and a set of 3.00 gears in the 8-inch rear end, so it's a fantastic cruiser. Classic styled steel wheels are the right choice and wear 195/75/14 whitewall radials at all four corners.

For more than 50 years now, Americans have dreamed of owning a Mustang convertible. Fortunately, this is one car that lives up to the legend. Call today!
