VERY CLEAN 1ST GEN CAMARO, 350CI, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES, VERY NICE PAINT

The backbone of the old car hobby is not pedigreed cars that cost six figures, but rather the cars that the rest of us drive on weekends and nice days. They may not be perfect, they may not be investments, but they're a lot of fun and make us smile every time we drive them. That's the story on this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, which is simple, affordable fun, and that's what makes it great.

Lemans Blue always looks great on a Camaro, and while it isn't this car's original color, it was stripped bare and repainted so completely that there's no trace of the original British Green anywhere on the body. They did a heck of a job, too, with super straight sheetmetal and a great shine on the two-stage urethane paint that shows only minor signs of use and age. A black stripe encircles the nose in the factory style, giving this F-body an aggressive look that doesn't beat you over the head. A cowl induction hood was added along the way, so it has the proper high-performance Camaro look and these cars just look incomplete without the traditional ducktail spoiler out back. The chrome and stainless was either replaced or restored along with the rest of the car, and I have to admit that it's kind of nice to ... Please ask for the full description.

The chrome and stainless was either replaced or restored along with the rest of the car, and I have to admit that it's kind of nice to see it bereft of fake SS badges. It is what it is, and there's no shame in that.

Black buckets are standard Camaro fare, and they're nicely finished with great-looking pleated seat covers and matching door panels. There's no console, but rather a trick B&M shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, and a gorgeous billet aluminum and black leather Grant steering wheel that gives it an updated look. The factory instrument panel covers speed and fuel level, with white-faced Sunpro auxiliary gauges under the dash for things like oil pressure and temperature. The factory AM radio remains in the dash, suggesting that this car is plenty entertaining without a soundtrack and the back seat is in excellent condition, as if it hasn't been used in years. Carpeted floor mats blend seamlessly with the carpets to help keep everything tidy and the trunk is painted with spatter paint and includes a full-sized spare tire and wheel.

If you want to have fun in a Camaro, there's no other choice but a 350 cubic inch V8. Built from a 1990s block, the smooth-running small block has performance enhancers like an Edelbrock intake manifold and a Holley carburetor up top, a combination that was perfected decades ago and works wonderfully here. There's bright Chevy orange on the block itself, so it looks right sitting in the Camaro's engine bay, and it's surrounded by reasonably correct-=looking accessories including a recent alternator, power brake booster and master cylinder, and a few chrome dress-up pieces. Long-tube headers feed a throaty Flowmaster dual exhaust system and you'll note that the floor behind it is quite good. A TH350 3-speed automatic transmission sends power back to a durable 10-bolt rear end, which hangs on air shocks so you can adjust the attitude to suit your tastes. The most noteworthy mod are those big 18-inch Boss Motorsports wheels, which look like vintage Torque Thrusts, and they carry low-profile Nitto rubber.

Sometimes you just want a car that works right and looks great without the worries that come with treating it as an investment. Take this Camaro home, get in, and have some fun. Call today!
