NICELY FINISHED COUPE, 289CI WITH AN AUTO, A/C & POWER STEERING, UNIQUE COLORS

Let's face it, with so many over-the-top cars out there, there's definitely something to be said for subtlety. This 1966 Ford Mustang coupe is an ideal example of doing more with less, and it doesn't need flashy paint or oversized tires to make its statement. Instead, it's a carefully crafted machine that lets the little things do the talking, and once you get a look, I guarantee you'll be impressed.

The early Mustang is one of the most recognizable cars ever built, so the subtle and elegant look this one carries shouldn't bother anyone. Refinished in a color that's pretty close to Vintage Burgundy (the original color was code 8 Springtime Yellow), and it looks awesome. Forget fake Shelby stripes, this one makes a statement with straight bodywork, crisp sheetmetal bends, and excellent prep so that you're drawn in to have a closer look. While you're there, you'll discover cool details like the simple, smooth grille with running horse emblem and "cat's eye" headlights that are like flamethrowers at night. Panel fit is very good, and you can tell someone invested a good amount of time getting everything right before any of that gorgeous burgundy urethane was sprayed. Things like the chrome ...

Things like the chrome bumpers, stainless window surrounds, and taillights are all stock Mustang items, because good taste never goes out of style, and the black vinyl top is in excellent condition, adding distinction to this affordable little coupe.

The black Pony bucket seat interior is like the body, almost entirely stock, but with a few smart upgrades that enhance the driving experience. The original buckets have been reupholstered in correct black vinyl seat covers with door panels to match, and there are new carpets on the floor. Original gauges are all fully functional, while the radio is a relatively rare and unusual AM/8-track unit that's a fun feature for you friends. A center console houses the T-shaped shifter for the C4 3-speed automatic, and while the internal parts are new, the A/C system's look is pure mid-60s Ford. The woodgrained steering wheel is perhaps a little fatter than the original and there are pony-logo floor mats to keep it in top shape. In back, the trunk is finished with an OEM style plaid mat and full-sized spare with matching cover.

Small block Mustangs are a threat on the street thanks to their excellent power-to-weight ratio and rugged hardware. This Mustang's 289 has been fully rebuilt and augmented with things like an Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor, and it drives smoothly so you know there are no finicky parts inside. The engine looks fairly stock on the outside with Ford Blue engine enamel and plain stamped steel valve covers, which is always nice to see on a non-GT car. Chrome shock tower braces and a Monte Carlo bar add stiffness that you can actually feel from behind the wheel. Underneath, it offers power steering (believe me, you'll be glad you have it!) and the glasspack-style exhaust sounds absolutely awesome. Those handsome Magnum 500s are a cool upgrade that still offers a vintage look and wear 215/70/14 Yokohama whitewall radials.

Walk softly and carry a big stick has always been a favorite car-building philosophy, and this pretty burgundy Mustang coupe is an outstanding example. Call today!
