NEW CRATE 350, MUSTANG II FRONT END, A/C, VERY NICE PAINT, ULTRA LEATHER INT

This neat little 1938 Ford truck is what craftsmanship is all about. Not content to just build one like the other guys, this two-tone hauler offers a gorgeous hand-made bed that works in conjunction with a fantastic color scheme to deliver a Blue Oval pickup like none other.

The paint is probably a love-it-or-hate-it thing, but that's good, because you guys who like it are going to fall in love with the rest of the truck. It's actually DuPont Amber Ecstasy over House of Kolor Purple Passion, and they make two great tastes that go great together. The finish is show-worthy in every way, with fantastic prep work underneath to make that high-visibility shine really stand out. The Ford sheetmetal hasn't been modified beyond the bed itself, so it has its original barrel-shaped grille and classic good looks that have remained popular for decades. Nothing has been chopped, so it has an old-fashioned look that's quite appealing, and with the natural lines on the body it was easy to make the two-tone combination work. The bed is made of quarter-sawn oak, which makes for some spectacular patterns and it's insanely expensive to mill it that way, making this a very special truck. Workmanship is ... Description

Workmanship is exceptional and you'll probably find that there are cabinetmakers who will admire this truck as much as hot rodders.

The bright interior is totally custom and a big step up from the original in terms of luxury and comfort. That bench seat is leather, not vinyl, and has been stitched to look suitably retro. Matching door panels were created at the same time, along with some custom carpets with matching yellow piping, just for effect. Big gauges from Classic Instruments give you the lowdown on the engine department and features like A/C, a tilt column, and power windows are part of the deal. There is no radio, but when your truck looks and sounds this cool, it's kind of redundant anyway. And please take a moment to admire the way the clock is integrated into the dash, which is a great way to blend old features and new ideas.

A brand new 350 cubic inch Chevy crate motor lives under the Ford's rounded hood and provides the kind of reliable power that a rod like this demands. It's nicely outfitted with a shiny air cleaner and finned aluminum valve covers, so it has a hot rod look, and the mechanicals are all proven components that offer decent service access. It sports the ubiquitous 4-barrel carburetor up top and a custom exhaust system underneath, complete with Flowmaster mufflers and polished tips poking out from underneath. Ford's original frame still lives under this truck, now reinforced and fitted with a Mustang II independent front end and disc brakes, not to mention more vivid paint. The transmission is a TH350 3-speed automatic which powers an 8-inch Ford rear end with 3.55 gears inside, and everything from the shocks to the driveshaft has been painted to match, so you should probably plan on showing this truck with mirrors underneath. Simple Centerline aluminum wheels don't distract from the overall look and carry staggered 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 rear BFGoodrich radials.

So if you like the paint job, you're going to love the truck. And even if you don't love the paint job, there's a lot here to appreciate, so give it a good once-over and be prepared to be impressed. Call now!
