This 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 Holiday hardtop coupe represents an interesting era in all the best ways. GM's rocket division was still holding on to a hint of tailfin, and this full-size carried a larger V8 than the 4-4-2 that debuted this year. The standard engine in Dynamic 88 was a 394 cubic-inch V8. Thanks to their durable construction and high-nickel content blocks, Oldsmobile engines of this vintage are known for their reliability and longevity. But more than just durability, there's plenty of performance lying within this very honest engine bay. It's a high compression motor with a four-barrel carburetor straight from the factory, and so the Rocket V8 has the kind of stump-pulling power to pull this coupe with ease. Today the motor still fires up quickly and with a precision that's an instant reminder of Oldsmobile's quality reputation.
