This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible might be the most universal collector car in the world. Everybody loves an early Mustang ragtop, and when you take this bright red one out, you'll find that everyone is your friend and that you're the center of attention everywhere you go.
The door tag says this one was originally code T, Candyapple Red, which is the quintessential Mustang color. So when the time came for restoration about five years ago, it was stripped, straightened, and sprayed with modern Candyapple Red urethane to really make it pop. The bodywork is quite straight, including the quarters that have had a ton of time invested in block sanding so the reflections are clear and crisp. The paint is well done, not quite a show car but perfect for those warm summer evenings that are ideal for cruising with the top down, and any show you attend will be happy to have this car on the field. All the chrome and trim is in good shape, too, with bright bumpers, shiny rocker panel trim, and excellent taillight bezels out back. Fog lamps were added to give it a sporty look, but that's the extent of the modifications.

Early Mustang interiors are some of the best places to spend a weekend, and the parchment buckets in this car wear fresh seat covers that replicate the standard interior quite nicely. That's a modern under-dash A/C unit from Vintage Air, which is a rather rare feature on a 6-cylinder convertible but most welcome here. An AM/FM/cassette stereo has been installed in the center of the dash, and it's a custom unit just for early Mustangs, so there was no cutting or hacking to get it in there. A few aftermarket gauges, plus a tach, were mounted under the dash just to keep everything looking stock. The white convertible top is brand new and folds easily thanks to a conversion to a factory-style power setup, and stows under a matching boot. Finally, the trunk is fitted with a new mat and spare tire with cover.
Now before you turn away from this pony because of the six-cylinder engine (the larger 200 cubic inch T-code version, by the way), you really should drive it. Thanks to a recent rebuild, it's smooth, torquey, and pulls down decent fuel economy, which means that you can enjoy your Mustang convertible without guilt! It looks great in Ford Blue with all the original equipment intact, from the air cleaner to the stock exhaust manifold feeding a custom dual exhaust system underneath. The A/C compressor has been cleverly hidden down low, so it looks very stock at first glance. The 3-speed automatic transmission and 2.83 gears out back mean that it's an easy cruiser and there's a new gas tank out back. Recent 195/75/14 radials have been fitted to a set of genuine wire wheels for a classic look.
Mustang convertibles are always in demand, and once you discover the joy of ownership, you'll cherish this beautiful red pony. Call today!
