The horsepower wars started in the 60s are alive and well. More than alive. They are Supercharged and pumped up with technology that nobody even dreamed of back in the day, and they are offered right from the factory with these awesome capabilities. But there are still hot-rodders out there who are doing the same thing as they did in the 60s by swapping motors to get even more horsepower. Swapping an LT4 motor into this car essentially makes it a “sleeper” ZL1 Camaro. Check it out.
First off, let's start with one very bad-assed looking Camaro. It's a Black car with flat black SS stripes. Add a factory installed front end splitter option that brings the front end even closer to the ground, fenders that seem stretched to their limit to cover the serious rubber under them, and black bowties both front and rear, and well, you get the idea. The only real color on the car are Red SS emblems in the front and rear, LT4 Supercharged in script on the fenders, and big red Brembo calipers clamping giant rotors. The rear windows do have a vinyl flag treatment too. From the side, you can see that the chassis has a bit of rake making for an even more aggressive look, and the rear wing with ... From the side, you can see that the chassis has a bit of rake making for an even more aggressive look, and the rear wing with quad exhaust tips peeking out from the rear valence look great too. At night you will enjoy HID headlights with LED signature lighting your way.
Open the door to check out the black interior with splashes of red and you are immediately greeted by a door panel full of technology that makes your life in the driver's seat more comfortable and enjoyable than ever. Switches for power windows, locks, mirrors, and seat presets are at your finger tips and one of many speakers for the Bose premium sound system is mounted toward the bottom. The leather seats are works of comfortable art with substantial side bolsters and SS stitched into the seatback. Settle in and check out the beefy leather steering wheel that is also full of tech under your thumbs as well as with active rev match paddles for the 6-speed manual transmission. The dash board includes dual zone climate control and a nav system with a heads-up display and back up camera. High-tech comfort, convenience, and safety. All new and spotless just as you would expect on such a low mileage car.
As you can see, there was no expense spared in the initial purchase of this car, and there were no short cuts taken when the decision was made to swap the 455 horsepower LT1 for a 640 horsepower LT4 crate motor either. All the appropriate hardware and components were sourced either through a GM dealership or Pace Performance. From the module and harness to an LT4 clutch, pressure plat and flywheel, to sensors and bolts. Open the hood and take a look. It just looks right. You cannot tell it's a swap. The chassis was ordered with the best of everything from the beginning like the big brakes, dual mode exhaust and magnetic ride control, so it is well up to the increase in horsepower and torque. Pace also supplied the awesome wheels that mount 295/35ZR20s in the rear and 275/35ZR 20s in the front.
Current cutting-edge power tech meets a good old-fashioned engine swap to produce some very impressive results.
