We'd normally start off talking color and style, but how can you miss that huge supercharger sticking out of the hood? It sucks air through dual Edelbrock carburetors and feeds it to a Ford 302 V8. It even has nitrous! Remove the clips holding the hood in place and lift the hood off to inspect the engine bay: Accel aftermarket ignition keep the spark burning hot, and a large aluminum radiator with twin electric fans keep the engine running cool. Long-tube headers feed into 3-inch exhaust pipes exiting the back of the car. You won't be able to see the competition in your rearview mirror because they'll be obscured by all your tire smoke.
Of course, no Mustang this intriguing is complete without a great set of wheels, and this car's polished alloys stand out both figuratively and literally. It's a proper drag car setup, with skinnies up front and retro-style treaded monster meats overflowing the rear wheel wells. Extended spring shackles raise the rear end, making room for these beefy tires and adding some rake to the Mustang's stance.
Now, about that paint. This Mustang is not just about going fast, as there's plenty of style worth bragging about. It's a rich burgundy color, with a finish so reflective you'll be able to style your hair in it. The front sway bar, rear differential, and both bottles of nitrous oxide (for show only) have been painted to match. This car is made to grab attention, which is exactly what it's been doing at the hands of the current owner: He found this convertible to be perfect for car shows and parades, which means it was open-air motoring most of the time rather than weekly trips to the drag strip.
The door handles have been shaved off, streamlining the sides of this car. Thumb the remote door opener in your pocket to pop the latch before you can hop in. Plant yourself in that black vinyl bucket seat and look around. The cabin is sparse, but efficient and complete. The three-spoke Mustang steering wheel means business, and looking through it, you'll notice a quality set of Auto Meter gauges have replaced the factory Ford instrumentation. Notice the Moroso switch panel just under the dashboard, with heavy duty toggle switches and indicator lights. Flip them on and thumb the start button to fire up this beast. Reach for the long-arm B&M shifter and pull the three-speed automatic into gear, and you'll notice it drives remarkably well for a car with such an enormous supercharger. Just don't expect to take it on a long trip: your trunk space is nil, thanks to a large fuel tank and battery box now mounted there.
