STEEL-BODY '40 FORD, CUSTOM INTERIOR, 350 V8, AUTO, CAMARO FRONT CLIP, X-FRAME

1940 Fords are always popular but they're seldom so affordable as this bright red coupe. With a small block Chevy V8, a nicely finished interior, and plenty of charisma, this might be your first, last, and only opportunity to get the '40 you've always wanted for so little cash.

The body is steel, so that's a big plus, and it even has steel fenders and running boards to complete the look. It was finished a few years ago and shows signs of use and age, but the bright red paint remains in fashion no matter what year it is and the 1940 Ford's look will always be red-hot among hot-rodders. The guys who built it nailed the important stuff and didn't add questionable graphics or body mods that would instantly date the car. Instead, they got the panels to fit well, the sheetmetal nice and straight, and gave it a decent paint job that looks great on the slick coupe. You can see that the body fits together rather well and that they respected the original design with the build, keeping the V-shaped grille, the stainless side trim, and the chevron-shaped taillights. Modifications are few, pretty much limited to a frenched-in license plate bracket in the trunk lid, but things like the chrome bumpers, ... Please ask for the full description.

Description

Modifications are few, pretty much limited to a frenched-in license plate bracket in the trunk lid, but things like the chrome bumpers, grille, and headlight rings are in excellent condition and shine beautifully against the red paint.

The interior is 100% custom, using comfortable front buckets finished in plus ultra-leather and stitched with red thread to add a little contrast. Matching tan carpets and floor mats give it a finished look, and there's no avoiding the wonderfully detailed "spider web" door panels that will definitely get everyone talking. The original instrument panel is replaced with a custom-made aluminum piece with elegant Dolphin gauges, all framed by a billet banjo-style steering wheel on a tilt column. Entertainment is via an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit with speakers stashed throughout the interior, including atop the custom-made parcel shelf where the rear bench used to live. There's even an accessory Ford heater under the dash, which is a neat retro touch and still quite effective. In back, the trunk is substantial enough for all your gear on a road trip, and is fully upholstered in matching tan carpet.

Small block Chevy power makes this '40 Ford a smooth runner and offers impeccable reliability. No radical modifications here, just a 4-barrel carb on an Edelbrock intake, a set of Mickey Thompson finned valve covers, and accessories tucked in tight to the block. Some head insulation on the firewall keeps it cool and comfortable inside and upgrades like a Camaro front clip with power steering and disc brakes make it a pleasure to drive. The X-frame is actually from an Impala and a 700R4 automatic transmission drives a stock Impala rear end, which hangs on coil springs and air shocks for a smooth ride. Flowmaster mufflers and custom chrome tips make sure the exhaust is an integral part of the hot rod experience and it sits on bright chrome Weld Pro-Star wheels and staggered 14- and 15-inch radials.

This is your chance, don't miss it. A 1940 Ford with a lot of fresh work on it, totally sorted and ready to go, for about what you'd pay for a new Ford sedan. Don't wait, call now!
