It's hard to find a better collector car from the 1990s than the 1991 GMC Syclone. It was a one-year-only turbocharged all-wheel drive pickup with a serious midnight attitude. So while finding one of the few 2,995 examples ever is always special, this one is a treat unique treat with exceptionally low mileage and great care to its originality.
GMC perfectly tapped into the premium/sporty truck world with a factory light pickup that looked like a full custom machine. This was a single-year run all done in black. This is even the original factory application! Averaging less than 1,150 miles annually already tells you this one was under proper care, and the original black was even just given a recent wet sand and buff. So yeah, the shine is just as impressive in person as the pictures. GMC gave these a great monotone look with the bumpers, grille, side mirrors, and aggressive body kit finished in this midnight attitude. There was even a factory tonneau to keep this looking black and sleek. In fact, there were only a few well-done deviations from the full blackout. Description
The factory 16-inch alloys have a special buzzsaw style that looked like this wanted to cut into lesser pickups, and the red Syclone scripts makes this one out for blood.
Inside, the black velour bucket seats with cool red pinstriping mimic the exterior blackout with red Syclone side badging. This coordinates with the door panels, and it all has the clean feeling of a well-respected low-mileage classic. These dual bucket seat combine with the upgraded gauge package, center console, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel to really turn this truck into a sports car. This also has a ton of great features, like the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo, power locks, tilt steering column, cruise control, and power windows. Plus, cold-blowing factory air conditioning keeps this hot-shot truck feeling cool.
What makes the Syclone a true classic is under the hood. The 4.3-liter motor in the Sonoma was upgraded to supercar status thanks to a Mitsubishi turbocharger and Garrett intercooler. Turning a beefy pickup into a muscle machine required more than just boosting the motor. This fuel-injected powerplant was also fortified to handle the extra power. Plus, the Borg Warner all-wheel drive transfer case has a rear weight bias to give the perfect balance between performance driving and superior grip. That same balance is found in the four-speed automatic transmission that can downshift for power and then return to overdrive cruising comfort. Add in power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, ABS, a limited-slip rear end, and Goodyear performance tires, and this is the truck with all the right moves to take on the streets.
The sale comes with the owner's manual packet and a reproduction window sticker. While this is already a complete and striking classic, there are also a ton of additional parts that can be made available for additional cost (call for all the details.) It all proves this one is set to be a terrific factory-style classic for generation to come. Don't miss your chance at such a well-preserved Syclone. Call today!!!
