This 1977 MG Midget gets the idea right. It continues to offer the same affordable drop-top and easy driver fun that has been part of its appeal since the beginning. And now that it's a true classic, you can also appreciate how the good care and good paperwork make it an attractive vintage machine.
You want a classic like this to represent its era correctly, and so we're happy to see the factory-correct Sandglow paint. Good body lines, a rear luggage rack, and Rostyle wheels get the British MG look just right. Plus, the black folding top looks good. And when you combine that with the black bumpers and black rockers, this looks like it has a well-coordinated two-tone. It's a total package that looks good but is also easy to enjoy out on the road, because after all, you buy an MG to enjoy the drive.
The Midget does a good job of being small/nimble in dimensions, but still providing the right full-sized features. For example, the bucket seats are high-back units that offer individual space, and your right hand will love resting on the ideally placed shifter. You may want to update the steering wheel or other details, but the little things really prove one is a thoughtful total ... Please ask for the full description.

And when you combine that with the black bumpers and black rockers, this looks like it has a well-coordinated two-tone. The Midget does a good job of being small/nimble in dimensions, but still providing the right full-sized features. For example, the bucket seats are high-back units that offer individual space, and your right hand will love resting on the ideally placed shifter. You may want to update the steering wheel or other details, but the little things really prove one is a thoughtful total setup. It's in the way the seat piping unites the black and tan of the interior. And the AM/FM/CD stereo gives you modern tunes in your vintage European convertible.
These final generation Midgets received the largest motor ever available to these sprightly MGs. The 1493 cc inline-four under the hood produced more torque than the earlier 1275 cc unit, which now made it better suited to American tastes. Add this to better gearing, and this was an improved lightweight car with an entertaining performance. This motor was given newer items like the valve cover gasket, plugs, and other maintenance items to keep it a strong runner. It even has an updated aluminum intake and a Weber carburetor. And the best part of the Midget is the feeling of control that comes from the combination of the four-speed gearbox, direct nimble steering, and front disc brakes.
This sale comes complete with the kind of paperwork you don't often see on these MGs. It includes the original bill of sale, service manuals, maintenance records, and the dealer invoice that shows this has been a southern drop-top. There's even a car cover so you can properly tuck it in at night after a day's driving. This MG is a lot of fun for one of the most affordable prices you'll find on a classic British convertible.
